Lakes Traverse® 2026 is a 100 km ultramarathon across the Lake District National Park, scheduled for 28 to 29 March 2026. The route follows Wainwright's Coast to Coast line, starting on the west coast at St Bees Seafront and finishing at Shap. The course passes through Ennerdale and Borrowdale, crosses Grasmere Common, goes past Grisedale Tarn, continues through Patterdale, crosses Kidsty Pike and runs along Haweswater before the finish.

The event is organised by Ourea Events and is held as an offline, in-person event within the national park.

Entry and practical information

Entries open on 9 April 2025 and close on 15 March 2026. The minimum age is 18 on the event date. Entry fees are tiered: £150 until 20 April 2025, £160 until 26 October 2025, and £170 from 27 October 2025 until entries close. Registration is managed through the SiEntries system; participants must log in or register with SiEntries to enter. Trail runs nearby

Dog friendly trail runs in Dodd Wood offering scenic climbs and views of the Coledale Fells, with 5K and 8K routes over varied forest trails and a steep final descent. Event is currently full.

Take on the scenic 10 mile Derwentwater Ten around the lake in Keswick, a challenging clockwise loop of undulating tarmac. Hosted by Keswick AC from Keswick School, this popular autumn race offers on site facilities and race day support.

Tackle a classic Lake District fell race around the Lickle and Duddon valleys, starting and finishing outside the Blacksmiths Arms in Broughton Mills. Expect steep climbs across 8 km with sweeping views and a friendly pub finish.

Join the classic Sale Fell Race at Sale Fell near Wythop Mill, a testing 3.7 mile fell run with 900 ft of ascent and hilltop views. Friendly to juniors and veterans, it mixes competition with scenic countryside.

Recce the Lakeland 100 route, 26 miles from Coniston to Buttermere, on 23 November 2025. For confirmed 2026 entrants only; coach transport, medical cover and checkpoints provided, but expect rough ground and possible night finishes.

Join Kong Running for the Kong Winter Series at Stybarrow Dodd on 29 Nov 2025, starting from Thirlmere People's Hall. A classic fell run celebrating the series tenth year run in reverse order, perfect for adventurous winter runners.
