Lakes Traverse® 2026 is a 100 km ultramarathon across the Lake District National Park. The event is scheduled for 28 to 29 March 2026 and is organised by Ourea Events. The start location is St Bees Seafront on the west coast and the finish is at Shap. The minimum age to enter is 18 or older.

Route

The route follows Wainwright's Coast to Coast route across the full width of the Lake District. It passes through Ennerdale and Borrowdale, crosses Grasmere Common, goes past Grisedale Tarn, runs through Patterdale, climbs over Kidsty Pike and follows Haweswater before finishing at Shap.

Entries, fees and options

Entries open on 9 April 2025 and close on 15 March 2026. Entry fees are: £150 until 20 April 2025, £160 until 26 October 2025, and £170 from 27 October 2025 until entries close. Participants must register with the SiEntries system to enter. The event offers an optional XCover purchase that may allow a refund if a participant cannot attend for unforeseen reasons. Take on the Kong Winter Series Race 3 around Blencathra and Blease Fell on Sat 10 Jan 2026 from Threlkeld. This demanding 8 km circuit packs 762 m of climb for a classic Lake District fell challenge; pre entry only.

Join the L100 recce from Ambleside to Coniston, a 16 mile evening run replicating the Montane Lakeland 50 and 100 course. Night run requires full kit and fitness to meet checkpoint cut offs; open only to confirmed 2026 race entrants.

The Run Like a Haggis MapRun Navigation - Grasmere will take place in Grasmere on Saturday 17 January 2026.

Enjoy a classic 4 mile fell race around Whitestones in the Lake District, with scenic climbs and a fully flagged course in the Helm Hill Winter League. Pre entry or pay on the day and junior races for U10 to U16 are included.
