Event overview
The 35th Allendale Challenge takes place on Saturday 11 April 2026 in Allendale, Northumberland. The event is organised by the North of Tyne Mountain Rescue Team to raise funds for the team. The course is an anti-clockwise loop from Allendale town that covers 26 miles (42 km) and crosses peat bogs and upland terrain in the North Pennines. Named landmarks on the route include Hard Rigg, Black Hill and Kilhope Law, with a return via Spartylea, The Drag and Ladlewell.
Electronic chip timing will be used for 2026. The timing system is used for tracking participants on the course and to speed processing at registration and checkpoints.
Entry and logistics
Entries open 1 July 2025 and close 29 March 2026. The event has an entry limit of 750 participants. The minimum age is 18 years, or 14 years if accompanied at all times by a responsible adult. Entry includes a premium quality cotton T-shirt and an Allendale Challenge pin badge. The venue for event registration and facility use is Allendale Village Hall, Allendale, Hexham, Northumberland.
