The 35th Allendale Challenge takes place on Saturday 11 April 2026 in Allendale, Northumberland. The event is organised by North of Tyne Mountain Rescue Team to raise funds for the team. Entries open 1 July 2025 and close 29 March 2026. The event has an entry limit of 750 participants. The standard entry fee is £44 plus a booking fee. An early bird entry option is available for those who sign up before 15 July. Entry includes a premium cotton T-shirt and an Allendale Challenge pin badge.

Route and format

The route is an anti-clockwise loop starting and finishing in Allendale, based at Allendale Village Hall. The course covers 26 miles (42 km) and crosses peat bogs in the North Pennines. Named points on the route include Hard Rigg, Black Hill, Kilhope Law, Spartylea, The Drag, and Ladlewell. The event offers walker and runner pace options and has a minimum age of 18 years, or 14 years if accompanied at all times by a responsible adult. For 2026 the event will use electronic chip timing to track participants and provide accurate finish times and additional safety features.
