The 35th Allendale Challenge takes place on Saturday 11 April 2026 in Allendale, Northumberland. The event is organised by the North of Tyne Mountain Rescue Team to raise funds for the team. It offers entries for walkers and runners and has an entry limit of 750 participants. The event distance is 26 miles (42 km). Entries open 1 July 2025 and close 29 March 2026. The minimum age is 18 years, or 14 years if accompanied at all times by a responsible adult.

Route and timing system

The course is an anti-clockwise loop from Allendale town that crosses peat bogs in the North Pennines. Named high points and sections include Hard Rigg, Black Hill, Kilhope Law, Spartylea, The Drag, and Ladlewell. The 2026 event will use electronic chip timing to track participants around the course and to provide an accurate finish time printout.

The North of Tyne Mountain Rescue Team is a volunteer-run charity providing search and rescue cover for the Northumbria Police area and relies on donations to remain operational.
