Trail Running calendar near Stanbury 2026-2027

A single-loop trail ultra around Sherwood Forest with options of about 30.8 miles or 40.8 miles, marked and marshalled with on-course refreshments, a 10.5 hour cutoff, and limited canicross entries.

A 22.5 km fell race near Downham, Lancashire with about 1250 m of ascent, limited to 200 runners and open to adults only. Pre-entry and on the day entry are available with permit and UK Athletics insurance provided by the FRA.

A 14.5 km fell race on 8 May 2027 from Rydal Hall, Ambleside, with 914 m ascent. Entrants need fell-racing experience and map-and-compass navigation; the route is only partly flagged and has five checkpoints.

Trail races around Moel Famau in the Clwydian Range offering Marathon, Half Marathon and 10k on hilly off-road routes. Checkpoints provide refill taps, mandatory safety kit is required and canicross entries are accepted.

A multi distance run through central Preston parklands on 9 May 2027, starting and finishing at Avenham Park. Routes use hard surface paths with looped courses, medical cover, a bespoke medal and an ultra option within a six hour limit.

A 7.5 mile clockwise circuit around Carsington Reservoir with waterside views, a bespoke finisher medal and technical t shirt options; open to entrants aged 16 and over with an entry limit and specified online fees.

An off road 10k and 15k in Scorton, Lancashire on 9 May 2027, across countryside and woodland. Entries include chip timing, a tech T shirt, a medal and water stations.

A chip timed half marathon through Sherwood Pines on 9 May 2027, run on traffic free forest trails with distance markers and water stations. Entries are limited and prizes include individual, age group and team awards.

An evening pop-up run in Kirkstall offering 5k and 10k options, on-site medals and a soft drink; payment is available on the day or online and the event is TRA licensed under UKA rules.

A 50k ultra through Nottinghamshire villages that uses footpaths, bridleways, tracks and minor roads. The route starts and finishes at Milestone Brewery, includes checkpoints every 6 to 8 miles and post-race food and tap room access.

A trail event around Ripon with ultramarathon, 20 mile and half marathon options that follow much of the Ripon Rowel and pass Fountains Abbey and Studley Water gardens. Routes include wooded valleys, historic sites and riverside views.

A flat out and back trail event along the Leeds and Liverpool Canal in Gargrave, North Yorkshire, offering 5k, 10k, half marathon and marathon distances with water stations, marshals, signage and bespoke finisher medals.

A 50-mile point-to-point trail from Kendal to Preston on 15 May 2027 with seven checkpoints, mandatory kit, participant tracking and a 13 hour cut-off. Pre-registration only, entry fee £95 and registration closes 9 May.

Three off-road distances around Derwent Reservoir on 16 May 2027, featuring firm trails and mixed terrain. The 5 km and 5 mile routes allow one controlled dog per runner while the 10 mile completes a full reservoir lap on closed roads.

A circa 13.2 mile trail half marathon around Black Hambleton and Silton Woods south of Osmotherley, featuring forest tracks, ancient trods, one staffed checkpoint and a four hour time limit.

A 5 km muddy obstacle course at Birkenhead Park featuring climbing, crawling and sliding. Organised by Cancer Research UK, the event uses staggered wave starts and requires participants to be 13 or older.

A 5.8 miles Peak District fell race around Youlgrave with rough trails, climbs, a swamp and partial marking. Entry is £6 with limited places and proceeds support Youlgrave Parish Council.
