Excalibur Trail Races 2026

The Excalibur Trail Races take place in the Clwydian Range, with the event headquarters and start/finish line situated at the Coed Moel Famau car park. The event features multiple distances conducted on off-road terrain, primarily utilizing trails, footpaths, and technical hilly tracks.

The event offers the following distances:

  • Full Marathon
  • Half Marathon
  • 10k

The organizers permit participants to run with dogs on a harness or lead (canicross) for all three distances. These participants start ten minutes after the main waves.

The courses are hilly and fully signposted. Participants are required to carry specific safety equipment, including waterproof body cover (jacket and trousers), a hat or buff, gloves, a compass, a whistle, and the provided waterproof route map. Checkpoints along the routes provide water and snacks, but runners must carry their own reusable bottles as no single-use cups are provided. A cut-off time is enforced at the Aifft checkpoint for the marathon distance at 2:00 pm.

The race headquarters includes a secure baggage area, toilet facilities, and catering services. In place of traditional medals and plastic water bottles, the event provides a sustainable memento and refill stations to reduce environmental impact.
