The event is a single circular trail loop in and around Sherwood Forest, with two distance options on the same lap. The course keeps mostly to forest trails and footpaths and passes lodges, Creswell Crags, the Welbeck Estate, Clumber Park, farmland and the Thoresby Estate. The longer option also passes The Major Oak.

All HOBO Pace races are fully marked out and marshalled so no navigation beyond common sense is required. Basic refreshments are provided at regular intervals and at the finish. All finishers receive a medal unless they opt out. T-shirts are available to purchase and there is an option to plant a tree.

The event is for runners only; walkers with no intention of meeting the time limit are not permitted, though run-walk strategies are acceptable. Dogs and canicross competitors are welcome but the field is restricted to a maximum of 20 canicross runners. Pacers are not allowed and there are no drop bags. A generous overall cutoff of 10.5 hours applies. The event will close once full and a waiting list is used when necessary.

Location is given as Forest Lane, Walesby, Newark, Nottinghamshire, NG22 9PF. The event is organised by HOBO Pace. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
