Dukeries 30 / 40 : overview

The Dukeries 30 / 40 is an annual one-lap trail race held on Saturday 9th May 2026, based at Walesby Sports & Social Club, Forest Lane, Walesby, Newark, NG22 9PF. The circular route starts and finishes in Sherwood Forest and follows mostly forest trails, footpaths and minor roads. The course passes Creswell Crags, skirts Welbeck Estate, crosses Clumber Park, goes through farm land and returns past Thoresby Estate. The 40-mile route includes an additional forest section that passes The Major Oak. Finishers receive a HOBO Pace medal.

Logistics and race details

The event is fully marked and marshalled with first aid present. There are regular, staffed aid stations; cut-off for the event is 10.5 hours, enforced at the A614 aid station where competitors must stop if they cannot complete the remaining approximately 7 miles within the time limit. Approximate aid station locations (miles) are: Hazel Gap (6), Cresswell Crags (13 for 30; 23 for 40), A614 (24 for 30; 34 for 40), finish (30.8 / 40.8). Entries are limited to 250 runners; the minimum age is 20. Pacers are not allowed. The event does not accept walkers (this refers to entrants not intending to meet the cut-off). Canicross is allowed with a maximum of 20 canicross runners. No drop bags allowed. Parking at the hall is limited. All HOBO Pace event food is vegan.
