PFW Running - Avenham Amble

PFW Running - Avenham Amble takes place on Sunday, 9 May 2027 in Avenham Park, Preston. The start and finish are at Avenham Park Cafe, beside the River Ribble.

The route uses hard-surface park paths and passes through Miller Park before crossing the river into Upper Farm nature reserve and leisure park, then returning to Avenham Park. The course is fully marked.

Distances on offer:

  • 10K - 1 loop plus a short out and back
  • Half marathon - 3 loops of the course
  • Marathon - 6 loops of the course
  • Ultra - as many laps as desired within six hour limit

The ultra has a six hour limit; the final lap must be started within 5H 15 Min. Entrant places are limited to 100. Entries close on 07/05/2027. The event is part of a three day series with options to enter one, two, or all three days.

On event day there will be sweet and savoury snacks, water, cordial and coke, and participants receive a bespoke medal and post-run goodies. The event provides medical cover, is run under UK Athletics rules, and has a Trail Running Association race permit number to be advised. Manchester Backyard Ultra at Giants Seat Scout Camp is a timed-loop endurance event on 13 June 2026. Runners repeat a roughly 6.7 km loop each hour until one runner remains; a torch is required for night laps.

A timed, multi-lap event at Chorlton Water Park using a 5.3 km out and back course along the River Mersey. Runners can cover one lap up to an ultra within a seven hour limit and all participants receive a finishers' medal.

A 9.7 km fell race on 14 June 2026 near Norden, Rochdale, climbing 396 m. Registration is at Norden Bowling Club with both pre-entry and on-the-day entry and team scoring for the first three finishers.
