The Avenham Amble is a multi-distance running event in Preston on Sunday 10 May 2026. Distances offered include a 10K, a half marathon, a marathon and an ultra. The event is part of a three-day series; entrants may take part in one, two or all three days.

Course, facilities and format

The course starts and finishes at Avenham Park Cafe by the River Ribble and passes through Miller Park and Upper Farm Nature Reserve & Leisure Park. The surface is hard-paths. The lap structure is: the 10K is one loop plus a short out-and-back; the half marathon is three laps; the marathon is six laps. The ultra allows as many laps as a runner wishes within a six hour time limit; the last lap must start within 5 hours 15 minutes. Refreshments provided include sweet and savoury snacks, water, cordial and coke. All runners receive a bespoke medal and post-run goodies.

Entry, age limits and terms

Maximum entrants are 100. Entries close 03/05/2026. Age rules require all participants to be over 18; ages 18-19 are limited to a maximum distance of marathon, while those over 20 have no maximum distance. Refunds are not permitted. Transfers or deferrals are allowed up to one week prior to the event. Trail Running Association race permit number is to be announced. Lee Mill Relays on 30 November 2025 in Rossendale is a tough team relay for four around the rugged Lee Mill Quarry, each leg a flagged wintry 10.7 km loop. Expect climbs, kit checks and a true fell running challenge.

Join the Bobble Wobble Run at Hardy Farm for a relaxed off road towpath run around Chorlton Water Park with flexible rock up starts. Finishers get a bobble hat and medal while the race supports Flock and Fluff charity.

Take on the Mytholmroyd Fell Race on 7 December near Hebden Bridge, a winter Pennine challenge of about 6 miles with stiff climbs, mixed terrain and deep bogs. Pre entry is required and every finisher receives a can of local beer.
