Avenham Amble

Avenham Amble is a multi-distance running event held in Avenham Park, Preston, PR1 8JT on Sunday 10 May 2026. The route runs beside the River Ribble, passes through Miller Park and crosses into Upper Farm nature reserve and leisure park before returning to Avenham Park. The course is described as undulating and will be on hard surface paths.

Distances offered:

  • 10K one loop plus a short out and back
  • Half marathon three loops of the course
  • Marathon six loops of the course
  • Ultra as many laps as desired within a six hour time limit; last lap must start within 5 hours 15 minutes

All participants must be over 18. Runners aged 18 to 19 may enter up to marathon distance; runners aged 20 and over have no maximum distance restriction.

The event provides sweet and savoury snacks, water, cordial and coke, and each finisher receives a bespoke medal and post run goodies. Entry limits and deadlines apply: maximum 100 entrants and entries close 03/05/2026. Refunds are not permitted; transfers or deferrals are allowed up to one week before the event. A winter waymarked trail challenge from Barley that follows the Pendle Way with a full ~45 mile course or a ~30 mile alternative, running over moorland and villages with multiple checkpoints and required winter kit.

Wadsworth Trog THE BEAST is a 31 km fell race around Hebden Bridge on Saturday 7 February 2026, featuring about 1,110 m of ascent and demanding navigational skill. Strict kit checks and no GPS navigation make this a true mountain test.

A winter fell race from the Rams Head Inn across moorland and the Pennine Way, roughly 12 miles with 2100 feet of ascent. Checkpoints provide basic supplies and full FRA winter kit is required.

A chip timed 5k, 10k and half marathon around Heaton Park with mainly path running and one trail section. The event supports Shelter, offers medals and on-course marshals, and includes accessibility for buggies and most wheelchairs.
