Avenham Amble

The PFW Running - Avenham Amble takes place in the central parklands of Preston. The event utilizes a route that begins in Avenham Park alongside the River Ribble and travels through Miller Park. The course extends across the river into the Upper Farm Nature Reserve and Leisure Park before returning to the original start area. All racing occurs on hard surface paths.

The event offers several distance options based on a looped course:

  • 10K: One loop plus a short out-and-back section.
  • Half Marathon: Three loops of the course.
  • Marathon: Six loops of the course.
  • Ultra: As many laps as desired within a six-hour time limit.

The course is described as undulating trail and is held under UKA rules with a Trail Running Association race permit. For the Ultra distance, the final lap must be started within five hours and 15 minutes of the start. Participation is limited to individuals aged 18 and over. Runners aged 18 to 19 are restricted to a maximum distance of a marathon, while those over 20 have no distance limit.

Participants have access to water, cordial, cola, and a variety of sweet and savory snacks. The route is fully marked and medical cover is provided on-site. Every finisher receives a bespoke medal and post-run amenities. The event has a maximum capacity of 100 entrants and serves as part of a three-day series.
