The Avenham Amble takes place on Sunday 10 May 2026 in Avenham Park, Preston, PR1 8JT. The event offers four distance options with a maximum field of 100 entrants. Entries close on 03/05/2026. Refunds are not permitted. Transfers or deferrals are allowed up to one week before the event. The event is part of a three-day series; participants may enter one, two or all three days. All participants must be over 18. Runners aged 18-19 may enter up to the marathon distance; runners aged 20 and over have no maximum distance.

Course and facilities

The course uses hard-surface paths and runs through central Preston parkland, including Avenham Park, Miller Park, crossings of the River Ribble, and Upper Farm nature reserve and leisure park. Runners are provided with sweet and savoury snacks and drinks including water, cordial and coke. All finishers receive a bespoke medal and post-run goodies. The lap structure is as follows:

  • 10K - 1 loop plus a short out-and-back.
  • Half Marathon - 3 loops of the course.
  • Marathon - 6 loops of the course.
  • Ultra - as many laps as desired within a 6 hour time limit; last lap must start within 5 hours 15 minutes.
