Wirral Pretty Muddy 5k : Birkenhead Park

The event is a Pretty Muddy 5k obstacle course held at Birkenhead Park, Ashville Road, Wirral (CH41 4HY). The start and finish are on grass and the course runs on a mixture of grass and tarmac path. Participants will climb, crawl and slide around a series of muddy obstacles.

  • There is no designated event parking; limited on-street parking surrounds the park. Ashville Road is closed as it forms part of the route.
  • Birkenhead Park train station is about 0.5 miles away, an approximate 15-minute walk. Several local bus routes serve the park.

Organisation and costs:

  • The event is organised by Cancer Research UK. Earlybird prices shown are £11.24 for adults and £6.00 for children. A minimum fundraising target of £50.00 applies.

A running race from the Druid Inn near Llanferres covering 8 km with 366 m of climb. The course is BS partially marked and entry is £4 on the day; parking is limited so car sharing is advised.

Nant Gain is a fell race near Cilcain covering 7.6 km with 370 m of ascent, starting and finishing at the Cilcain Waterworks and registering at The White Horse Pub. Entry is £3 on the night and minimum age is over 16.

A chip-timed 5-mile multi-terrain race through Arrowe Park on 12 July 2026, featuring woodland trails, grassy paths and parkland. Water stations, on-site toilets, a finish medal and goody bag are provided.

A summertime off road race of about 5 miles along the River Mersey in Sale, organised by Dragons Running Club. The event uses chip timing, provides finish mementos and shares profits with local charities.
