Wirral Pretty Muddy 5k - Birkenhead Park

The event is a Pretty Muddy 5k obstacle course taking place at Birkenhead Park, Ashville Road, Birkenhead, Wirral, CH41 4HY on Sunday 17 May 2026. Participants climb, crawl and slide around a course that uses a mixture of grass and tarmac paths. The start and finish are on grass on the field behind the Birkenhead sea cadets; the starting point is also referenced by what3words blunt.wing.fall.

Entries are charged at £22.49 for adults and £12.00 for children. There is a minimum fundraising target of £50. Pretty Muddy events use staggered wave starts every 15 minutes; groups are expected to register for the same wave. Participants must be 13 years of age or older. Marshals are available on course and obstacles may be skipped if needed.

Transport information notes there is no designated event parking and limited on-street parking on Ashville Road. The nearest pedestrian entrance is via Park Road East, approximately 140 m away. Birkenhead Park train station is about a five minute walk and several bus routes stop at Birkenhead Park, including routes 216, 407, 418, 437, 410 and 658.

On-site facilities listed as available include refreshments and toilets. The event is not suitable for wheelchair users or pushchairs, dogs are not permitted and there is no bag drop or showers. A 6.9 km running event at Ysgol Dinas Bran in Llangollen with 350 m of ascent. The course is partially marked, minimum age over 16, day-entry fee £5, with refreshments plus showers and changing available.

A multi distance trail event at Brockholes Nature Reserve featuring 10K, half marathon, marathon and ultra options within a six hour limit. Entry fees vary by affiliation and two pounds per entry supports the reserve.

A summer evening charity run at Marbury Park with a 5k adult race and 1k kids' fun run, plus BBQ, bar, cake stall and music. Proceeds go to The Stroke Association and all finishers receive a medal.

Run 24 hours along Offa's Dyke National Trail from Prestatyn on May 9 2026. Solo and team entries offer a continuous coastal to countryside challenge with staffed checkpoints and a finishers medal to mark your achievement.
