Trail Running calendar near Poole 2026-2027

A level 19 km trail race along a converted Somerset and Dorset railway through the Stour valley, with route markers, two aid stations, a canicross option, parking and post-race refreshments.

A 10 km trail run and canicross at Renegade Brewery on the Yattendon Estate. The course is mostly off road with one water refill station and finishers receive a medal, a pint cup with a free drink and a mince pie.

A seven hour Time Challenge along the River Thames in Egham with flexible distances from 3 km to 50 km, signed laps, medals, distance pins and goody bags, plus a Christmas dinner aid table and a small present for finishers.

A traditional 3.5 mile Boxing Day run around Hindhead commons and the Devils Punch Bowl, with Mens, Ladies and a Drinking Run category. All profits support Holy Cross Hospital.

A free, untimed community run along the canal tow path from Bridgwater to Taunton offering 14 mile and 7.5 mile options; registration is required for insurance and cafes are located along the route.

Winter X is a mid-winter trail-running event in the Meon Valley offering 10, 30, 50 and 70 km on marked public trails with checkpoints and post-event food. Entries for 2025 are closed; a provisional date for 2026 is 28 December 2026.

A year-end cross-country event at Butlers Lands Farm featuring water crossings, Roman walls, fields and footpaths. Two routes are offered and entry includes a medal, engraved iTAB, free photos and chip timing.

January 2027

An 8-hour timed road event in Exmouth on 1 January 2027 using measured 5.3k out-and-back laps on a former train line. Participants may start within the event window and must finish by the published cut-off time.

A themed trail run at Wenchford Picnic Site featuring seven named hills over 7 miles or the double 14 mile Immortal Sinner. Canicross waves are available and the terrain may be muddy with possible ice or snow.

A New Year trail race at Box Hill with an exact 10.000 km route, 473 m of ascent and rough tracks offering steep sections and wide views. Registration and parking are at Denbies Vineyard and headphones are not permitted.

A coastal countryside trail event around Budleigh Salterton using lanes, footpaths, the Otter valley and the Jurassic Coast. Two route options cover about 13.6 miles and 8.5 miles with marked courses and aid stations.

Winchester Trail Run in January 2027 offers two off road routes around Farley Mount near Winchester, including a half marathon and an Epic course with a short climb and countryside views.

Night running at Haldon Forest Park with single-loop 10K and 5K courses, kids races and a Canicross 10K; participants must bring a head or chest torch and facilities include chip timing and marshalled routes.

A trail half marathon and 10K in Moors Valley Country Park, Dorset, run on gravel woodland paths with lap-based routes and limited canicross places. The event is chip timed, fully marked and follows several eco-friendly measures.

A 7 to 8 mile cross country run around May Hill in Gloucestershire with steep climbs, muddy trails and an open plain at the summit. A Sunday May Hill Mayhem option adds an extra loop to total 14 to 15 miles.

Trail runs start and finish in Queen Elizabeth Country Park on the South Downs, passing through Head Down, the South Downs Way and the Milky Way. Three route lengths are offered and finishers receive a medal, a drink and event goodies.

A twilight out and back trail in Hurn Forest offering 5 mile and 10 mile options. The event uses 2.5 mile laps, provides aid at the start and finish, and donates 20% of entry fees to Forestry England.

February 2027

An evening running event at Westonbirt Arboretum on 6 February 2027, with 5 km and 10 km routes that pass through collections of over 2,500 trees. The surface is solid underfoot and ticket sales are currently sold out.

A winter single loop trail ultramarathon in Hampshire covering about 53 miles and 6400 ft of ascent, mostly on the South Downs Way and linked trails. Entry requires a marathon qualifier and winter darkness trail running experience.

A weekend of road races in Exeter featuring a two-lap 13.1 mile half marathon and a 5 mile Riverside route along the Quayside and Riverside Valley Park, organised by Exeter City Community Trust with charity fundraising options.
