Event overview
The Thames Ring Series is a multi-day trail event based at the Morrell Rooms, Streatley-on-Thames, Reading (RG8 9JA). The route is an anti-clockwise loop that follows the Thames, then the Grand Union Canal, and returns via the Oxford Canal to Streatley. The course is almost entirely on canal and riverside towpaths and footpaths and is described as relatively flat. The 2026 race dates are 22nd to 26th April.

Race format and logistics
The full distance has a maximum time of 100 hours. The 150 and 100 distances have maximum times of 53 hours and 34 hours respectively. Checkpoints are provided roughly every 25 miles. Navigation uses provided maps and .GPX files. All runners are tracked with GPS devices that include an emergency SOS button; the public tracking link will be made live about one week before the race.
Support rules and kit: outside support is only allowed at some checkpoint locations. Pacers or buddy runners are not permitted. Runners must be self-sufficient between checkpoints and carry compulsory kit such as at least 1 litre of fluids, waterproof top and bottoms, a head torch (minimum 100 lumens), food, and a charged mobile phone. Drop bag rules: 250 and 150 runners may have one drop bag up to 20 kg transported to checkpoints; 100 mile runners have one drop bag accessible at the Lower Heyford checkpoint.
