The MTC Oxford Ultra is a point-to-point ultramarathon of 49 miles held on 7 August 2026. The route runs from Travelodge Oxford Abingdon Road to Henley-on-Thames (finish at the Catherine Wheel, Hart Street). The course follows the Thames Path for much of the route and passes Sandford Weir, Culham, Cholsey, Moulsford, Streatley, Whitchurch-on-Thames, Purley Park, Tilehurst and Reading. Total ascent is 293 metres and total descent is 328 metres.
Logistics, support and rules
The race has three check-points that provide water and nutrition. CP segment distances are:
- Start to CP1 - 12.3 miles
- CP1 to CP2 - 12.7 miles
- CP2 to CP3 - 13.4 miles
- CP3 to Finish - 9.7 miles
All finishers receive a bespoke medal and either a technical t-shirt, mug or hat. The first male and female finishers receive a bespoke trophy. Competitors must be at least 20 years old on the race day, be self-sufficient for transport to and from the start, and carry mandatory kit such as a GPX device or downloaded route/maps, a mobile phone, and navigation and safety items (for example a compass or GPS device, head torch, whistle, first aid kit and backpack). Entrants must maintain an average speed of at least 4.0 mph; falling below this requirement will result in removal from the race. Entry is payable in advance and fees are non-refundable.
