The MTC Oxford Ultra

The MTC Oxford Ultra is a point to point 49 mile ultra run along sections of the Thames Path from Travelodge Oxford Abingdon Road to the Catherine Wheel in Henley-on-Thames. The route passes notable river locations including Sandford Weir and the towns of Culham, Cholsey, Moulsford, Streatley, Whitchurch-on-Thames, Purley Park, Tilehurst and Reading before reaching Henley-on-Thames.

The event has three staffed checkpoints that provide water and basic nutrition. Example checkpoint items include malt loaf, cake, sandwiches, dried fruit, sweets, squash, cola and water. The organiser aims to cater for Gluten Free, Vegan and Vegetarian needs where possible; competitors may also leave drop bags at checkpoints and are advised to carry personal supplies.

Mandatory kit includes a GPX device or the route downloaded to a phone with adequate battery backup and a mobile phone. Competitors must provide their own transport to the start and from the finish. Entrants must maintain an average of 4.0 miles per hour including stops or they will be removed from the race. Vertical figures for the course are listed as 293 m ascent and 328 m descent.

All finishers receive a bespoke MTC Oxford Ultra medal and a choice of a technical t-shirt, mug or hat. The first male and first female finishers each receive a bespoke Oxford Ultra trophy. A 47 mile point to point ultramarathon along the Thames from Henley to Kingston, with three checkpoints offering food and drink, mandatory navigation kit and a required average pace to remain in the race.

Four-event summer series at Dinton Pastures offering 5 km, 10 km and a 2 km kids race on a flat off road traffic free course with chip timing and medals.

A guided 10 km trail run through the Chiltern Hills finishing with a brewery tour and tasting at Tring Brewery, including a drink and on‑site pizza options.

A 10 km multi-terrain trail run at Ramsbury Brewery on August 16, 2026, with a canicross option. Entries include chip timing, a medal, race photos and a pint cup with a free alcoholic or non-alcoholic drink.
