The MTC Oxford Ultra is a point-to-point ultramarathon held on 7 August 2026. The course distance is 49 miles with total ascent of 293 m and total descent of 328 m. The race starts at Travelodge, Abingdon Road, Oxford, and finishes at the Catherine Wheel, Hart Street, Henley-on-Thames. Individual entry is priced at £90 and entry fees are non refundable. Entrants must be at least 20 years old. Competitors must be self-sufficient for travel to the start and from the finish. All finishers receive a bespoke Oxford Ultra medal and one item from a technical t-shirt, mug or hat; the first male and female finishers receive a bespoke trophy.

Route, checkpoints and rules

From the Travelodge the route reaches the Thames Path after 0.5 miles and runs past Sandford Weir, Culham, Cholsey, Moulsford, Streatley, Whitchurch-on-Thames, Purley Park, Tilehurst and Reading before arriving at Henley-on-Thames. The event has three checkpoints that provide water and some nutrition. Typical checkpoint items may include malt loaf, cakes, sandwiches, sweets, dried fruit, squash, cola and water; the organiser will attempt to cater for gluten free, vegan and vegetarian options when advised. Required kit includes a GPX device or downloaded route, map, compass or GPS, backpack, head torch with spare batteries, whistle, mobile phone and a first aid kit. Competitors must maintain an average of 4.0 miles per hour (including stops); those below this minimum will be removed from the race.
