The event is an ultra running race of 49 miles with 293 m of ascent and 328 m of descent. The start location is Travelodge Oxford Abingdon Road, Oxford OX1 4XG. The finish is at The Catherine Wheel, Hart Street, Henley-on-Thames RG9 2AR. All finishers receive a bespoke MTC Oxford Ultra medal and either a technical t-shirt, a mug or a hat. The first male and first female finishers receive a bespoke Oxford Ultra trophy.

Route, checkpoints and services

The route reaches the Thames Path after 0.5 miles and passes Sandford Weir, Culham, Cholsey, Moulsford, Streatley, Whitchurch-on-Thames, Purley Park, Tilehurst and Reading before arriving at Henley-on-Thames. The race includes three checkpoints that provide water and some nutrition. Example items that may be available include malt loaf, cake, sandwiches, sweets, dried fruits, squash, cola and water. Competitors may leave drop bags at checkpoints for dietary needs beyond the stated options.

Entry, kit and rules

Entry fee for an individual is shown as £90. Deposits and payments are non-refundable. Competitors must be self-sufficient for transport to the start and from the finish. Entrants must be 20 years or over on the start day. Mandatory kit includes a GPX device or the route downloaded to a phone and a mobile phone. Competitors must maintain an average of at least 4.0 mph including stops; those falling below this requirement will be removed from the race.
