The MTC Oxford Ultra

The MTC Oxford Ultra is a 49 mile point to point ultramarathon from Travelodge Oxford Abingdon Road to The Catherine Wheel in Henley on Thames. The course follows the Thames Path for most of the route and has a total ascent of 293 metres and total descent of 328 metres.

From the Travelodge the route reaches the Thames Path after 0.5 miles at Donnington Road Bridge, then passes Sandford Weir, Culham and Cholsey. The course leaves the river briefly through Moulsford, then returns to run past Streatley and Whitchurch on Thames, with a short deviation through Purley Park before passing Tilehurst and Reading en route to Henley.

The race includes three checkpoints that provide water and some nutrition. Example items may include malt loaf, cake, sandwiches, dried fruit, squash, cola and water. The organisers endeavour to cater for gluten free vegan and vegetarian diets; competitors should state dietary needs at entry and may use drop bags at checkpoints.

Competitors must be self sufficient for transport to the start and from the finish. Mandatory kit includes a GPX device or the route downloaded to a phone with backup power and a mobile phone. Entrants must maintain an average of 4.0 miles per hour including stops or they will be removed from the event. All finishers receive a bespoke Oxford Ultra medal and a choice of a bespoke technical t shirt mug or hat; first male and female finishers receive a bespoke trophy. Individual entry fee is £90 and fees are non refundable. Entrants must be at least 20 years old on the race date. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
