The MTC Oxford Ultra

Event

The MTC Oxford Ultra is a point-to-point ultramarathon of 49 miles organised by Ultra Running Ltd. The route runs between Travelodge Oxford Abingdon Road (start) and The Catherine Wheel, Henley-on-Thames (finish). Total ascent is 293 metres and total descent is 328 metres. All finishers receive a bespoke MTC Oxford Ultra medal and either a technical t-shirt, mug or hat. The first male and first female finishers receive a bespoke trophy.

Route and checkpoints

The course follows the Thames Path shortly after the start and passes Sandford Weir, Culham, Cholsey, Moulsford, Streatley, Whitchurch-on-Thames, Purley Park, Tilehurst and Reading before reaching Henley-on-Thames. The event has three check-points that provide water and nutrition. Example items on offer may include malt loaf, cake, sandwiches, dried fruit, sweets, squash, cola and water. The organiser will endeavour to cater for gluten free, vegan and vegetarian diets if competitors state requirements; other dietary needs should be provided by the competitor.

Entry, kit and rules

Individual entry fee is £90. Deposits and payments are non refundable. A deferral to the following year is possible for £15 if requested up to four weeks before the event. There is an option to run free by raising an agreed charity amount. Entrants must be 20 years or over on the event day. Competitors must carry mandatory kit including a GPX device or the route downloaded to a phone with sufficient battery backup, and a mobile phone. Competitors must maintain an average of 4.0 miles per hour including stops; falling below this requirement will result in removal from the event.
