MTC Windsor Ultra : event overview

The MTC Windsor Ultra is a 47 mile point to point ultramarathon following the Thames from Henley to Kingston. The route passes Seven Corner Alley, Marlow Lock, Cookham Bridge and Cookham Moor, Maidenhead Bridge, the M4 bridge, Dorney Thames Field, Boveney Lock, Windsor Racecourse, Brocas Meadow with views of Windsor Castle, Windsor Bridge, Runnymede, Bell Weir Lock, Staines Bridge, Queen Mary Reservoir, Shepperton Lock, Walton Lane, Teddington and concludes at Travelodge Kingston Central.

The race provides three checkpoints that offer water and a selection of nutrition. Example items that may be available include malt loaf, cake, jam, peanut butter, cheese or marmite sandwiches, sweets, dried fruits, squash, cola and water. Organisers aim to cater for gluten free, vegan and vegetarian options; competitors with other dietary needs must provide their own supplies or use drop bags.

Key requirements and logistics:

  • Competitors must be self-sufficient for travel to the start and from the finish and should note nearby train stations.
  • Entrants must register and have kit available for inspection before the event.
  • Entrants must be 20 years or over on the start day.
  • Mandatory kit includes a GPX device or downloaded route and a mobile phone with sufficient battery backup.
  • Competitors must maintain an average of 4.0 miles per hour including stops; falling below this will result in removal from the race.

Entries are non refundable. Individual entry is stated at £90.00 and all finishers receive a bespoke Windsor Ultra medal plus a choice of a technical t shirt, mug or hat. Trail runs nearby

A timed charity run along the Thames with lap options from 5.3 km up to ultra distances. The Run for a Tenner entry donates £10 to Rays of Sunshine and all finishers receive a bespoke medal.

A muddy obstacle 5k at Kempton Park Racecourse on 4 July 2026 featuring climbs, crawls and slides with staggered wave starts. The event includes free on-site parking, nearby train and bus links and a minimum fundraising target.

A 21.1 km off road trail race on 5 July 2026 along The Ridgeway between Wendover and Princes Risborough, with fully marked navigation, two aid station visits and a 4 hour limit.
