The MTC Windsor Ultra

The MTC Windsor Ultra is a 47 miles point to point ultramarathon that follows large sections of the Thames Path between Henley and Kingston. The route passes a sequence of riverside landmarks and towns including Marlow Lock, Cookham Moor, Maidenhead Bridge, Dorney Thames Field, Boveney Lock, Windsor Racecourse, Brocas Meadow with views of Windsor Castle, Runnymede, Staines Bridge and the Queen Mary Reservoir before leaving the river to finish at Travelodge Kingston Central.

The event includes three staffed checkpoints that provide water and a range of nutrition. Example items listed by the organiser include malt loaf, cakes, jam, sandwiches, sweets, dried fruit, squash, cola and water. The organiser states dietary options for gluten free, vegan and vegetarian competitors where possible and allows drop bags at checkpoints.

Key race details published by the organiser include a required minimum average speed of 4.0 miles per hour otherwise competitors may be withdrawn, mandatory kit that includes a GPX device or downloaded route and a mobile phone, and an ascent of 155 metres with 182 metres descent. Entry is non refundable and the standard individual fee is £90. All finishers receive a bespoke Windsor Ultra medal and a choice of technical t shirt, mug or hat; late entries within four weeks may not be guaranteed the bespoke medal.
