The MTC Windsor Ultra is a point-to-point ultra marathon held on 8 August 2026. The course distance is 47 miles with approximately 155 m ascent and 182 m descent. The race starts outside The Catherine Wheel, Henley-on-Thames (RG9 2AR) and finishes outside Travelodge Kingston Central (KT1 2PD). Individual entry is priced at £90; a deferral option to the following year is available for £15 up to four weeks before the event. Entry fees are non-refundable except where the organiser cancels and a reschedule is not possible.
Route, checkpoints and rules
The route follows the River Thames and passes Henley, Marlow Lock, Cookham Moor, Maidenhead Bridge, Dorney (Thames Field), Boveney Lock, Windsor Racecourse, Brocas Meadow and Windsor Bridge, Runnymede, Bell Weir Lock, Staines Bridge, Queen Mary Reservoir, Shepperton Lock, Walton Lane and Teddington before leaving the Thames Path to finish at Kingston. There are three checkpoints that provide water and food; example items include sandwiches, cake, dried fruit, squash, cola and water. The checkpoint legs are:
- Start to Checkpoint 1 - 9.5 miles
- Checkpoint 1 to Checkpoint 2 - 12 miles
- Checkpoint 2 to Checkpoint 3 - 13.9 miles
- Checkpoint 3 to Finish - 12.9 miles
Competitors must be at least 20 years old. Mandatory kit includes a GPX device or downloaded route and a mobile phone with sufficient battery. Entrants must maintain an average of 4.0 miles per hour; competitors falling below this requirement will be removed. All finishers receive a bespoke medal and a technical t-shirt, mug or hat; the first male and female finishers receive trophies. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
