Event overview

Exe to Axe is a trail running event along the South West Coast Path from Exmouth to Seaton. The 2026 edition is the 22nd running of the event. The race uses chip timing and finishes on the beach in Seaton opposite the Mariner's Hotel. Checkpoints with water and snacks are available near Budleigh Salterton, Sidmouth and Branscombe. Courses, entries and logistics

Distances and options:

  • Exe to Axe - full 22 miles from Exmouth to Seaton
  • Exe to Axe Relay - 22 miles in 2, 3 or 4 sections
  • Sid to Axe - second half from Sidmouth to Seaton

Entries open 30 May 2025 and close 30 March 2026. Entry fees vary by course and date; unaffiliated participants pay an additional £2. Relay teams and a pre-race transfer option are available for a fee. Registration takes place at Sideshore, at the start location. Pre-race transport is provided from Seaton Coach Park and parking is available at Seaton Long Stay Car Park. Hand baggage can be transported from start to finish.

Restrictions and timing: the full Exe to Axe requires entrants to be 18 or older. Relay entrants may be 15 or older with stage restrictions for younger runners.
