Windsor 50 Ultra Challenge

The Windsor 50 Ultra Challenge is a trail event held on Saturday 18 April 2026 with basecamp at Windsor Racecourse. Routes use looped paths through Windsor Great Park, pass Runnymede and follow sections of the Thames Path, and include views of Windsor Castle and nearby countryside. The event typically sees around 2000 adventurers from the basecamp.

Participants can choose from these distances:

  • 50 km looped route (figure of 8; two different 25 km loops)
  • 25 km looped route including the Great Park
  • 10 km loop around Eton, Windsor and the Castle

Course details include measured elevations: the 50 km route has about 320 m ascent, the 25 km about 175 m, and the 10 km about 25 m. Rest stops are provided approximately every 12.5 km, with larger stops around 25 km; catering includes snacks, energy drinks, a 25 km picnic for 50 km participants, and a hot meal for 50 km finishers. The route is fully signed with hundreds of pink arrows and GPS mapping in an event app. Timing scans at rest stops are logged and tracked by a control room.

Medical, podiatry, and massage teams are available at rest stops, supported by mobile emergency medical cover. Entry options include walking, jogging, or running, a Solo Challenger start option, an Ultra March category for walkers aiming to complete 50 km in under 12 hours, and a Trailblazerz category with set time targets for faster runners. Finishers receive a medal, T shirt, and a glass of fizz, with a downloadable official certificate. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
