About the race
The Thames Meander Summer is a riverside race series that starts in Small Profit Dock Gardens in Barnes, adjacent to the Barnes Sports Club Race HQ. The route follows the Thames Path across Barnes Bridge towards Kew Gardens and continues to the Petersham & Ham Sea Scouts on an out and back course.
The event offers three distances and designated turnaround points. The course is waymarked and marshalled, and check points are positioned along the route. Professional medical support is provided by KLP Medical Supplies and medics are present at the start, Kew Gardens Car Park and the Petersham turnaround.
Check point locations include CP1 at Small Profit Dock Gardens (Lonsdale Rd, London SW13 9JS), CP2 at Kew Gardens Car Park (Ferry Lane, TW9 3AG) and CP3 at Petersham & Ham Sea Scouts (Douglas House, Meadow Close, Richmond TW10 7AH). Runners complete the course on towpath and riverside surfaces along the Thames Path.
Distances:
- 10km: one out and back lap to Kew Gardens Car Park checkpoint.
- Half marathon: one 13.1 mile out and back to Petersham CP3.
- Marathon: two 13.1 mile out and back loops to Petersham CP3.
