Riverside Trail Racing in Richmond

The Thames Meander Summer is a riverside race series that takes place along the Thames Path towpath. The event is based at the Petersham & Ham Sea Scouts HQ at Douglas House Meadow in Richmond. All three race distances follow out-and-back routes that are flat and proceed entirely along the river trail.

The course is well-marked and marshalled throughout. Participants should note that the routes utilize a public trail shared with walkers and cyclists. The terrain consists of the Thames Path trail, and turnaround points are located at Kew Gardens and opposite the Barnes Sports Club, depending on the chosen distance.

Three distances are available for participants:

  • 10 km: A single out-and-back loop heading to the Kew Gardens Car Park turnaround point.
  • Half Marathon: A single 13.1-mile out-and-back loop extending to the Barnes turnaround point.
  • Marathon: Two 13.1-mile out-and-back loops reaching the Barnes turnaround point twice.

The event features three stocked check points providing high-energy foods, gels, drinks, and electrolyte powders. Medical support is provided by KLP Medics, who are stationed at the start/finish area and the Kew Gardens check point. Finisher medals are provided to those who complete their respective distances.
