Total Coastal 50K

Kingswear, United Kingdom • 25 Apr 2026

Event overview

  • 50 km ultra on the South West Coast Path
  • Half Marathon (13.1 miles) on the South West Coast Path

The event finishes at The Ness in Shaldon. Both races follow the South West Coast Path and use a mix of trails and tarmac.

Route and logistics

The ultra runs from Kingswear to Shaldon and includes about 7,000 ft of ascent. The half marathon starts at Preston Green near Paignton and includes just over 3,000 ft of ascent. The routes are multi-terrain with around 75% trails. The majority of tarmac on the ultra is the flatter middle section from Goodrington Beach to Torquay Harbour; on the half the tarmac is mainly in the first section to Torquay Harbour. Navigation is by keeping the sea on the right and following Acorn signposts; marshals will be at tricky locations and competitors are asked to have the GPX route on a phone or watch. The ultra has four aid stations (near Brixham, Preston Beach, Meadfoot Beach Car Park, Maidencombe Car Park). The half has two aid stations (Meadfoot Beach Car Park at about mile 4.1, Maidencombe Car Park at about mile 10.1). The event is cupless.

Mandatory kit and entries

Mandatory items include a mobile phone with the event contact numbers, route GPX on phone or watch, and a filled water container (ultra at least 1 L, half at least 500 ml). Additional required items include a showerproof jacket for the ultra and a windproof jacket for the half (requirements may be updated before the event). Runners are advised to carry nutrition, a foil blanket or extra layer, and £20 cash or card for emergencies. Entry fees are listed separately for affiliated and unaffiliated runners. Minimum ages are 21 for the ultra and 18 for the half. An event finishers medal is supplied for each distance. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
