The event offers two multi‑terrain races along the South West Coast Path. The 50 km ultra covers approximately 7,000 ft of ascent and follows coastal trails from Kingswear to the Ness at Shaldon. The half marathon covers 13.1 miles with just over 3,000 ft of ascent from Preston Green to the same finish. Both routes are roughly 75% trails and include tarmac sections mainly around the middle flatter sections near Goodrington and Torquay Harbour.
Navigation is straightforward by keeping the sea on the right and following Acorn signposts; marshals will be placed in tricky locations and extra signs will be used where needed. Competitors should carry the route GPX on a phone or watch to aid navigation.
Aid stations: the ultra has four stations at Nr Brixham, Preston Beach, Ilsham Marine Drive and Maidencombe Car Park; the half marathon has two at Ilsham Marine Drive and Maidencombe Car Park. The event is cupless so runners must bring their own cup or bottle.
Mandatory kit includes a mobile phone with the event emergency contact numbers, route GPX, a showerproof or windproof jacket, and a water bottle or hydration pack with minimum capacities specified for each race. Other recommended items listed by the organiser include race nutrition, a foil blanket, and emergency cash or card.
