Devon and Cornwall Backyard Ultra

Plymouth, United Kingdom • 29-30 Aug 2026

Devon and Cornwall Backyard Ultra

The event uses the backyard ultra format: runners complete repeated laps of 4.167 miles every hour, starting on the hour. Each lap must be finished in less than 60 minutes, and any remaining time within that hour is typically used for rest and preparation for the next circuit. Runners continue hourly circuits until only one person remains; that last runner is declared the winner.

The event is scheduled across the weekend of 29 to 30 August 2026. Entry requires a minimum age of 18 and the published entry fee is £95. Entries open on 15 October 2025 and close on 27 August 2026.

Camping is included with entry and is available across the event weekend or until the event finishes. The organiser provides some on-site services and facilities, including an accessible toilet and sanitary bins that are stoma friendly. A complimentary hair plaiting service is offered with donations to the charity encouraged.

The event is organised by Bowel Cancer West and entry fees are used to support people living with bowel cancer and to fund research and training. The current event record is 30 laps. The format is presented as a personal endurance challenge that has enabled participants to reach new distance milestones. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
