Devon and Cornwall Backyard Ultra

Plymouth, United Kingdom • 29-30 Aug 2026

Devon and Cornwall Backyard Ultra

Devon and Cornwall Backyard Ultra takes place from Saturday 29th to Sunday 30th August 2026. The event uses the Backyard Ultra format: participants run a fixed circuit of 4.167 miles every hour on the hour and try to complete as many laps as they can.

Each circuit must be completed in less than 60 minutes. Any remaining time within the hour is typically used to rest and prepare for the next lap. All runners continue this pattern until only one runner is still able to complete a lap; that runner is the event winner. The event is described as a personal endurance challenge and has produced many first long distance achievements for participants, including first half marathons, first marathons, first 100k efforts and first 100 mile efforts. The event record stands at 30 laps.

Entries open on 15 October 2025 and close on 27 August 2026. The minimum age to enter is 18 and the entry fee is £95. Camping is included in the entry and is available for the event period. The organiser is Bowel Cancer West and entry income is used to support people living with bowel cancer and to fund research and training.

The event offers accessibility provisions including an accessible toilet and sanitary bins suitable for stoma care. A complimentary hair plaiting service is offered with voluntary donations welcomed. Participants may choose to purchase XCover for possible refunds in certain circumstances. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
