About the race
The Dartmoor BIGDAYOUT comprises two linear trail races on Dartmoor with the event base and finish at Ivybridge Rugby Club. Both courses are fully marked and marshalled and finish at the event centre where registration, changing and shower facilities are provided.

- The Crossing: 33.5 miles (55 km)
- The Great Escape: 15.5 miles (25 km)
The Crossing runs from Belstone to Ivybridge across high moorland and visits the villages of Belstone, Postbridge, Bellever and Ivybridge. The route includes approximately 1,119 metres of ascent and 1,516 metres of descent and offers fully stocked aid stations, two water top-ups and two drinks stops along the route. Large remote sections include a 9 mile stretch between Eylesbarrow and Leftlake with no food or water provision, and the first 11 miles from Belstone to Postbridge also has no aid station.
The Great Escape covers the final part of the Crossing from Princetown along the Abbot’s Way, crossing the Erme Valley and canyons with a generally downhill profile that includes some technical uphills. That course is fully marked and marshalled with two refuelling or water stops.
On-site camping is available for a limited number of prebooked pitches at £22–£25 per night. A bus transfer to the start of each linear route is offered at additional cost. The event operates a plastic free cupless system; runners must carry minimum personal water capacity and required safety kit.
