This event comprises two off-road races that start on Dartmoor and finish at Ivybridge Rugby Club, Ivybridge, Devon (PL21 0LR). Distances offered are:

  • 15.5 miles (The Great Escape)

Race details and facilities

The Dartmoor Crossing crosses open moorland and includes two Dartmoor 600 m summits. It visits Belstone (start), Postbridge, and finishes at Ivybridge. The Crossing records 1,119 m of ascent and 1,516 m of descent over 33.5 miles. The course is fully marked and marshalled and includes 2 fully stocked aid stations plus 2 remote water stops. The Crossing has a time limit of 9.5 hours and a minimum age of 20 years.

The Great Escape follows the last 15.5 miles of The Crossing, crossing the head of the Erme Valley, traversing Erme canyons and the Abbots Way before the descent into Ivybridge. It is fully marked and marshalled and includes 2 water stops. The Great Escape has a time limit of 4.5 hours and a minimum age of 17 years.

All finishers receive a bespoke medal. Bespoke event t-shirts are available to purchase via the entry system. A coach transfer from Ivybridge to the starts is available for £15. The Runners Navigation Course - Princetown will take place in Princetown on Sunday 11 January 2026.

Take on Haldon Night at Haldon Forest Park on 17 January 2026 with single loop night trails from 1K to 10K including canicross. Bring a head torch to follow reflective markers and enjoy chip timing, medals and post race food.

Tackle Dartmoor in the Winter Pairs, a rugged 19 km trail around Western Tors with about 650 m of climb. Teams of two, pre entry only and required kit make this a compact winter challenge with just 35 pairs.
