The Dartmoor Crossing / Great Escape

The event offers two separate trail races that start in moorland villages and finish at Ivybridge Rugby Club. Both courses are fully marked and marshalled and include bespoke medals for all finishers and event t shirts available for purchase via the SiEntries system.

Distances:

  • 33.5 miles The Crossing, described as a baby ultra
  • 15.5 miles The Great Escape, a long half marathon

The Crossing crosses open moorland and two of the Dartmoor 600 m summits, visiting Belstone, Postbridge and Ivybridge. The course includes 1,119 m of ascent and 1,516 m of descent over 33.5 miles, two fully stocked aid stations and two remote water stops. The event centre and finish are at Ivybridge Rugby Club. A time limit of 9.5 hours applies. Minimum age is 20 years on race day. A coach transfer from Ivybridge to the start is available for £15.

The Great Escape follows the final 15.5 miles of The Crossing. It crosses the head of the Erme Valley, traverses the Erme canyons and follows parts of the Abbots Way before descending into Ivybridge. The route has only two water stops because of remoteness. A time limit of 4.5 hours applies. Minimum age is 17 years.

Camping can be booked at the event centre for £20 per pitch per night, including camper vans and mobile homes. Registration is handled at Ivybridge Rugby Club on the morning of the event with an option to register at the start after a kit check.
