The Dartmoor Crossing / Great Escape

The event on 1 August 2026 comprises two organized trail races that start on Dartmoor and finish at Ivybridge Rugby Club. Both courses are fully marked and marshalled and include limited on-course support reflecting the remoteness of the terrain.

  • 33.5 miles The Crossing, a baby ultra across open moorland
  • 15.5 miles The Great Escape, the final section from Princetown to Ivybridge

The Crossing crosses open moorland and two Dartmoor 600 m summits, visiting Belstone, Postbridge and finishing at Ivybridge. It includes 1,119 m of ascent and 1,516 m of descent over 33.5 miles, features two fully stocked aid stations plus two remote water stops, has a 9.5 hour time limit and a minimum entry age of 20 years.

The Great Escape follows the last 15.5 miles of The Crossing, crossing the head of the Erme Valley, traversing the Erme canyons and sections of the Abbots Way before the descent into Ivybridge. It includes two water stops only, has a 4.5 hour time limit and a minimum entry age of 17 years.

All finishers receive a bespoke medal. Bespoke event t-shirts are available for purchase via the entry system. Coach transfers from Ivybridge to the starts and overnight camping at the event centre are offered for set fees. Entries open 29 August 2025 and close 29 July 2026.
