Haytor Heller

Haytor Heller takes place on Saturday 5th September 2026. The event, now in its 40th year, starts below Haytor Rock and follows a single lap of approximately 6 miles before returning to Haytor Rock with a fast downhill finish opposite the middle car park.

The route is hilly with several steep ascents and descents. It is mainly across rugged, open moorland with two woodland sections below Hound Tor and below Haytor, and it includes a stream crossing. The course is completely off road. Drinks are available at Hound Tor (approximately 4 miles) and at the finish.

There is a strict cut off at the top of Hound Tor (approximately 4 miles); runners who do not reach that point within one hour will be asked to withdraw and a lift back to Race HQ will be provided. For safety, no headphones or earphones may be worn; runners who ignore this rule will be disqualified. Dogs and following cyclists are not allowed on the course. Competitors should adhere to the Country Code.

Race HQ is at the Coach Park at the far end of the lower car park. Toilets will be available but there are no showers or changing facilities. A selection of refreshments and a BBQ will be provided. There is a strict race limit of 350. The race is a scoring event in the 2026 Dartmoor Fell Series. Entries will open in the spring. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
