Trail Running Calendar North West (England) 2025-2026

Tackle the stunning Grasmere Gallop, a fully way marked 42 km trail loop around Grasmere with dramatic climbs, tarns and lakeside views. Finishers receive a Langdale slate medal and homemade cake at the line.

Take on scenic Ullswater from Glenridding with 33.5, 21.5 or 10 mile trail options that showcase lakeside views and classic Cumbrian fells. Enjoy feed stations, electronic timing and a bespoke finisher medal at Jenkins Field.

Tackle Paddy's Pole fell race in the Bowland fells near Chipping, Lancs, a punchy 6 km with 336 m climb that rewards hill legs. Pre entry is required, entries limited to 140 so book early and consider car sharing as parking is limited.

Challenge the South West Pennines at the Leo Pollard Memorial Race in Rivington, an 8.5 km fell course with 335 m of climb, held around Rivington Hall Barn. Entry on the day; proceeds support Bolton Mountain Rescue.

Tackle the Stickle Grind 650, a bold vertical mountain race up Harrison Stickle to Stickle Tarn near Ambleside. Enjoy steep trails, a short scramble, live music and a recycled wildflower seed medal for finishers.

Rab Scafell Sky Race 2026 Run 38 km with 2800 m of ascent on technical Lake District trails, taking you to the summit of England's highest peak. Expect demanding terrain, fully supplied aid stations, electronic timing and a finishers seed b..

Tackle 21 km with 850 m ascent on a one day trail race through the fells of Great Langdale, starting and finishing at Stickle Barn. Expect rugged paths, sweeping views and a warm finish with live music and vegan soup.

Take on the Lake District Ultra Challenge on 6 and 7 June 2026 with options from a 100 km loop to two day stages and shorter distances. Run through Garburn Pass, Ambleside and lakeside trails for epic views and rugged climbs.

Take on the classic Ennerdale Horseshoe in the Lake District, a tough 23 mile fell race with big ascent and stunning mountain scenery. Entries are limited and on the day places may be available, creating a competitive scenic challenge.

Classic Lake District fell race from Howtown Bobbin Mill, testing runners over 13.3 miles with about 1400 m of climb across rugged terrain. Entry is on the day for £8 and limited to 100 starters so arrive early.

Tackle the Coppice fell race in Accrington on Tue 9 Jun 2026, a spirited 6.6 km course with 310 m of climb starting from the Whitakers Arms. Day entry only means it is ideal for last minute plans and teams are welcome.

Tackle the Boar's Head fell race in the Peak District on Wed 10 Jun 2026. This BM 8 mile course climbs 402 m from the Boar's Head Hotel, welcomes teams and on the day entries for £5; entrants must be 18 or older.

Tackle the Walsh Two Lads fell race in Horwich on Thu 11 Jun 2026, a lively 5.2 mile loop through the South Pennines with roughly 900 feet of climb. Expect rugged trails, friendly competition and a cash prize for any new course record.

Explore Ullswater from Pooley Bridge on Saturday 13 June 2026 with a half marathon or 10km trail, live chip timing and bespoke finisher medals. Well behaved dogs welcome with harness and lead.

Tackle a short fell race on Flan Fell in Ulverston, with a sharp climb, great views and a punchy out and back finish. Family friendly with junior categories, a new 2025 course and easy on the day entry make this a perfect local challenge.

Preview the Montane Lakeland 50 and 100 route on this 26 mile recce from Pooley Bridge to Ambleside. Based at Dalemain Mansion, the day includes coach transfer, checkpoints and medical support to help you prepare.
