Routes and facilities

There are two waymarked routes and a 10-hour completion target:

  • 24 miles / 4,300 ft
  • 17 miles / 3,000 ft

Both routes run north and east of Marple, passing Werneth Low, Cown Edge, Lantern Pike and Chinley Churn, and returning via the Goyt Valley Way. The long route crosses the Millennium Walkway in New Mills. When weather permits, the route offers views over Manchester, the South Pennines and the Peak District. Each route has three outdoor checkpoints and one indoor checkpoint, with drinks and snacks provided. New for 2025, the long route uses the Scout Hut in Hayfield as an indoor checkpoint and the short route uses the Children’s Inn at Rowarth. Parking is available on Chadwick Street and Hollins Lane public car parks; parking at Memorial Park is not available because of building works. Entry includes start refreshments, checkpoint supplies and a hot meal at the finish; finishers receive a certificate. Participants are asked to bring a mug for drinks.
