The Signpost Challenge Hike, organized by South Manchester LDWA, takes place in Marple, near Stockport, featuring two scenic and hilly routes of 24 miles (4,300ft ascent) and 18 miles (3,000ft ascent). The course heads north and east of Marple, passing landmarks such as Werneth Low, Cown Edge, Lantern Pike, Chinley Churn, and the Goyt Valley, with views over Manchester, the South Pennines, and the Peak District. Participants have 10 hours to complete the hike, spotting green Peak and Northern footpath signs along the way. The event includes indoor and outdoor checkpoints offering drinks and snacks, with a hot meal at the finish. The start and finish are at Marple Senior Citizens Hall.
