The Signpost Challenge Hike, organized by South Manchester LDWA, is a scenic and hilly hiking event based in Marple, near Stockport. Participants can choose between two routes: a 24-mile course with 4,300 feet of ascent and an 18-mile course with 3,000 feet of ascent, both to be completed within 10 hours. The route heads north and east of Marple, passing landmarks such as Werneth Low, Cown Edge, Lantern Pike, and Chinley Churn in the High Peak, with views over Manchester, the South Pennines, and the Peak District. The hike features both outdoor and new indoor checkpoints offering refreshments, and challenges hikers to spot Peak and Northern footpath signs along the way.
