The Ultra Loop : Delamere Forest

The Ultra Loop is an eight hour looped ultramarathon held at Delamere Forest in Cheshire. Participants run repeated laps of a roughly 6.02 km route and receive a finishing time and medal for the distance completed.

The course mixes gravel roads and light trail sections and passes through woodland, including a climb to Old Pale Viewpoint and a loop around Blackmere Lake. The route is not closed to the public, so runners may encounter walkers and dog walkers on the course. Any lap not completed before the eight hour cut-off is not counted in the final results.

Timing is chip based at a single start line that also records lap times each circuit. Final results show the number of laps completed, total distance and elapsed time. The event maintains a results leaderboard and records while describing the format as non competitive.

Onsite facilities are concentrated at the start and finish area, which serves as the aid station and spectator zone. The aid station supplies water, fruit, sweet and savoury snacks, energy bars and electrolytes from the event sponsor. Participants are asked to bring their own bottles as cups are not provided. A bag drop and portaloo facilities are available. Entry and age rules require parental contact and attendance for those aged 12 to 15 and exclude under 12s.
