The Ultra Loop at Delamere Forest

The Ultra Loop is an 8 hour looped ultramarathon held at Delamere Forest in Cheshire, UK. Participants run as many laps of a looped route as they can within the time limit; results show laps completed, total distance and elapsed time, and every finisher receives a medal and finishing time.

The route is a mixed terrain loop of about 6 km, combining gravel paths and woodland trails. The course passes Old Pale Viewpoint and Blackmere Lake and includes a climb before returning to the start. The route is not closed to the public, so runners should expect possible encounters with walkers and dogs and are advised to use appropriate footwear.

There is one start and lap line that provides lap times each circuit. The area around this start/finish line also serves as the single aid station and spectator area. The aid station provides water, fruit, sweet and savoury snacks, energy bars and electrolytes from the event sponsor VOOM. Participants are asked to bring their own bottles; water will be available to refill and cups are not provided. A bag drop is available throughout the event and portaloos are provided on site.

Registration is confirmed by email and entrants receive an event guide prior to the day. Race numbers and timing chips are collected at registration on the morning of the event. Participants under 12 are not permitted; those aged 12 to 15 must have a parent or guardian register and attend. The listed entry fee is £34 and the event address is Delamere Forest, Frodsham, WA6 6NB. There are community groups on Facebook and Strava for participants.
