The event takes place at Wasdale Head, West Cumbria, CA20 1EX (Grid Reference 187089, What3Words ///slopes.reaction.diggers). The race is a BOFRA championship counter and has separate senior and junior routes. Age categories are Under 12, Under 14, Under 17 and Seniors; there is no Under 9s category.

Course and kit

The course distance is 2.40 miles / 3.80 km with 2300 feet / 700 meters of climb. The route climbs to the summit of Kirk Fell and includes a steep ascent and steep descent. A route map and a race profile are not available.

Kit requirements are specified by age: Under 12 and Under 14 competitors must carry a compulsory waterproof jacket with taped seams. Under 17 and Senior competitors must carry a compulsory waterproof jacket and trousers with taped seams, plus a hat and gloves. Fluorescent jackets without taped seams are not acceptable.
