Wasdale is a fell race held at Wasdale Head, West Cumbria (Grid Reference: 187089). The route climbs to the summit of Kirk Fell and features steep ascent and steep descent. The course distance is 3.8 km / 2.4 miles with 700 m / 2297 ft of climb. The race is a BOFRA Championship counter and has permit and UK Athletics insurance from the FRA.
Entry and categories
Entry is available on the day; there is no pre-entry. Senior entry is £5. Junior races are held for Under 12, Under 14 and Under 17 athletes; junior entry is £2. Age categories listed also include Seniors, and there is no Under 9s category. The published minimum age is 6. Teams are not allowed.
Course access and kit
A race map and profile are not available on the event page. Kit requirements are enforced: U12 and U14 competitors must wear a waterproof jacket with taped seams. U17 and Senior competitors must wear waterproof jacket and waterproof trousers with taped seams, plus hat and gloves. Fluorescent jackets without taped seams are not acceptable.
