The District Back Yard Ultra 2026

The District Back Yard Ultra is a Backyard Ultra held in Greystoke, Cumbria on 3 October 2026. The course sits in the shadow of the Lake District, with open views, rolling trails and Greystoke Castle nearby. The organiser presents a country theme with music and a yard atmosphere.

The event follows the Backyard Ultra format: one loop per hour, every hour. Runners must complete the loop before the top of the hour to continue. When a runner fails to finish a loop in time their race ends; the last person to complete a solo loop is the winner.

The loop measures approximately 4.18 miles (6.73 km) and is described as a runnable trail with countryside character and wide open views toward the nearby mountain range. The setting offers a strong sense of space and visible scenery around the route.

Expect a yard for runners, crews and spectators with a country themed vibe that includes music and on-course atmosphere. The event is presented as suitable for a wide range of participants, from those trying a Backyard Ultra for the first time to experienced competitors. Numbers are restricted and the format emphasizes repeating the same loop hour after hour. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
