The District Back Yard Ultra 2026

The District BYU is a Backyard Ultra held in an undisclosed Lake District location. The course offers wide open views, rolling trails and mountain backdrops. Terrain is described as undulating with variation across the loop.

The race follows the standard Backyard Ultra format: one loop per hour, repeated each hour. The official loop distance is 4.167 miles / 6.706 km per yard. Each competitor must complete the loop before the top of the hour to continue. The last person to complete a solo yard is the winner.

Camping is included for athletes and crew as part of entry. Competitors may select add ons for additional tents or camper van parking so site space can be managed. Each competitor is allocated a 3m x 3m pitch for their base. Organisers will provide an aid station with water and basic supplies, but the event is self supported and participants should be prepared to look after themselves between yards.

Entry concessions are available for proven Backyard Ultra performances. Any athlete who has won a Backyard Ultra in the last two years can claim a free entry. Athletes who have completed 30 or more yards at a Backyard Ultra can claim a 50% discount, subject to verification.

Numbers are restricted. Full race pack and final event details will be sent to entrants before the event. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
