Rab Pinnacle Ridge Extreme 2027 : event overview

The Rab Pinnacle Ridge Extreme is a single-day sky race run around the Helvellyn Massif in the English Lake District, based at Patterdale on 17 July 2027. The route is a short, technical skyrace of 28 km with approximately 2700 m of ascent and includes steep scrambles and hands-on rock sections.

Entry is restricted. Competitors must be at least 19 years old on race day and complete a pre-entry application describing recent mountain running, race and scrambling experience. Applicants must normally demonstrate completion of several named mountain races or runs within the past five years of about 18 miles / 30 km or more, or equivalent significant mountain challenges. A clear requirement for significant rock climbing or high-grade solo scrambling experience is stated; no climbing experience means no entry. Applications are reviewed by the race team, usually within 96 hours, and payment is taken only after an application is accepted. The Race Director has final authority on entry decisions.

The event lists a tiered entry fee schedule and includes a fully marked course, GPS tracking and timing, a post-race meal with vegan and gluten-free options, a compostable finishers’ medal, and a professional mountain-qualified safety team. Optional paid extras for entrants include a race tee, branded goat-bells for supporters, and post-race massage. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
