The Rab Pinnacle Ridge Extreme is a skyrunning race in Patterdale on the Helvellyn Massif. The route is 28 km with 2700 m of ascent. The course includes technical single-track sections, long runnable ascents through Glenridding Mines, five graded scrambles on route, scree‑ridden descents and knife‑edge ridgelines. The organiser describes the route as highly technical and climbing‑focused.
Entry, requirements and services
Entries use a pre-selection and vetting process and places are allocated after review. Competitors must be at least 19 years old on race day. Applicants must demonstrate significant mountain running and climbing experience; acceptable evidence includes completion of several long mountain races (around 30 km or more) within the past five years or recognised mountain challenges, and rock climbing or graded scrambling ability (scrambling grade 2 or above, lead climbing, winter or alpine climbing, or equivalent solo climbs). No payment is taken at the pre-selection stage; successful applicants are invited to complete payment to confirm a place.
Entry fees are listed from £110, rising to £120 and £130 at later dates. Included with entry are a fully marked course, a post-race meal with dietary options, a compostable finisher medal, GPS tracking and timing, and a mountain‑qualified safety team.
