Rab Pinnacle Ridge Extreme 2026

The Rab Pinnacle Ridge Extreme is a 28 km race with 2700 m of ascent around the Helvellyn Massif near Patterdale in the English Lake District, a UNESCO status landscape. The route includes technical ground, hands on rock sections, steep scrambles and steep descents and is described as a skyrace in design. Climbing and rock skills are a mandatory part of the course.

Entries use a pre selection and vetting process. Competitors must be at least 19 years old on race day. Applicants are asked to detail recent mountain running, race and scrambling experience for review. Successful applications typically demonstrate completion of several named mountain races or long mountain runs in the past five years of about 18 miles or more, or equivalent significant mountain challenges such as the Bob Graham Round, Ramsay Round or other enchainments. Significant rock climbing or high grade solo scrambling experience is required to gain an entry.

No payment is taken at the pre selection stage. Applications are usually reviewed within 96 hours; accepted applicants are then invited to complete their entry and payment. The published entry fee is £130. Included for entrants are a fully marked course, a post race meal with vegetarian and gluten free options, a compostable finisher medal, GPS tracking and timing by Open Tracking and a mountain qualified safety team. Optional extras are available via the event entry platform. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
