Trail Running calendar near Lightmoor 2026-2027

A 24 hour ultra challenge visiting eight trig points from a caravan park base in the Vale of Clwyd. Solo runners and teams of four can attempt the full 100 miles or choose a 55 mile five trigs option.

Part of a 12 Days of Christmas series on 13 December 2026 at Pengethley Manor, this off-road event offers 5k, 10k, half, marathon and ultra options on a 2.5 km lap with a seven hour limit. Virtual entries and medals are available.

Trail runs and duathlons at Sherwood Pines near Mansfield, set in 3,300 acres of woodland. Distances include a Family 1 Mile, 5km and 10km; 5km and 10km allow one well-controlled dog per runner.

Seasonal trail races through Salcey Forest on 13 December 2026 offer 10k, 5k and a 1.2 km junior run. The event uses mostly flat forest trails, awards bespoke medals and prizes, welcomes seasonal fancy dress and raises funds for Shelter.

Trail runs at Wyre Forest on 13 December 2026 include a family one mile plus 5 km and 10 km options, with canicross on the 5 km and 10 km. Finishers receive medals and seasonal refreshments.

A pre Christmas anniversary timed run in Stroud on 13 December 2026 with flexible lap-based entry on a 3.28 mile canal route; distances range from 5 km to ultra and all finishers receive a bespoke medal and a memento.

A festive off road event at Pengethley Manor offering 5k, 10k, half, marathon and ultra options with a seven hour time limit. Runners and walkers can also enter virtually and receive the same medal after verification.

A pre Christmas trail run on Moel Famau from Bwlch Penbarras that keeps the distance a surprise. The course is between 6 and 12 kilometres, includes hills and varied terrain, and finishes with a mince pie and festive medal.

A December fell race on Skirrid of about 5.7 km with 450 m of ascent, based at the Skirrid Inn near Llanvihangel Crucorny. Entry costs £10, competitors must be over 16, and the event includes a kit dump and spot prizes.

A Christmas themed timed lap event at Dare Valley Country Park with well maintained footpaths. Finishers receive a bobble hat, a themed medal and a goody bag with a vegan option.

A family run festive four mile fancy dress run in Horwich on 20 December 2026. Chip timing, a Christmas themed trinket and costume prizes are included and the route is fully marshalled on local roads and paths.

A Boxing Day fell race around Blacka Moor and Totley Moor near Totley. The 7.8 km course climbs 270 m, costs £8 and supports S6 foodbank and Edale Mountain Rescue with mandatory FRA best practice kit required.

A Boxing Day fell event at Stiperstones Inn near Minsterley, covering 4.8 km with 244 m climb. Partially marked course with limited experience required; online entries for recorded times and proceeds go to Severn Hospice.

Whinberry Naze is a festive fell race in Rawtenstall on Sat 26 Dec 2026 covering 6.4 km with 229 m of ascent. Entry on the day costs £6 and there are prizes for fancy dress.

Trail runs along the Mortimer Trail between Ludlow and Kington on Sunday 27 December 2026. Two distances are offered: an around 30 mile multi terrain ultra and a half that follows the final section starting at Riverside Inn, Aymestrey.

A downhill fell race of 4 km from Moel Famau summit to Cilcain with about 350 m descent. The route is partially marked, for competitors over 16, and is insured by the WFRA; donations are collected at the White Horse in Cilcain.

Bracing winter fell race around Bilberry Fields in Todmorden, offering scenic South West Pennine views and a testing 4.6 mile route with plenty of climb. Friendly club atmosphere with cheap pre entry and on the day entry available.

Celebrate New Year's Eve with the Wormstones fell race in the Peak District, an energetic 8 km with about 400 m of climb. Join at The Beehive in Glossop on 31 Dec 2026 for tough trails, great company and curry after the run.

A 7-mile New Year's Eve fell race from The Little Tea Room in Rivington with a live bagpiper send-off, a pint and pie for finishers, and a post-race prize presentation and party at The Crown Pub in Horwich.

Timed laps along a flat riverside towpath at Hardy Farm with flexible distances and a pick your own medal. A vegetarian aid station runs all day and the first 90 participants receive a microfibre towel.
