Wentworth Castle Gardens Trail Runs

Wentworth Castle Gardens Trail Runs take place on Wednesday 10 June 2026 at Wentworth Castle Gardens, Park Drive, Barnsley, South Yorkshire S75 3EN. The event offers evening trail running with exclusive access to the estate and routes that pass through parkland, woodland and historic features.

Two race distances are available:

  • 5 km Trail Run, runners aged 11 and over
  • 10 km Trail Run, runners aged 15 and over

The venue is a Grade I registered landscape covering about 500 acres and includes historic landmarks such as the Rotunda, Serpentine Bridge and Stainborough Castle, plus formal gardens, monuments and ancient woodlands. Routes are described as parkland paths and woodland trails that pass notable estate features.

The event is Canicross friendly; one controlled dog per runner is permitted and dogs must remain on a lead at all times. Live chip timing is provided by Timing Up North and results are recorded electronically. All finishers receive a medal, a merchandise item and a snack and drink. A custom event T shirt can be added to an entry for £12 during registration. Free parking is available on site for participants and spectators. A PECO Cross Country League race at Roundhay Park, Leeds, on an undulating 4.5 to 5.0 mile course. Advance online entry for affiliated club members is £7 and includes remaining league races and end of season events.

A 5 miles fell race around Midgley Moor with path and heather moorland route choices and partial route marking. The event requires navigation, FRA mandatory kit and has limited parking with entry permitted up to 100 competitors.

A Peak District fell meeting in Mirfield on 15 February 2026 with junior championship races and a senior race over about 5 km with 210 m climb. Pre-entry and on-the-day entry are offered, and the event holds FRA permit insurance.

A winter fell race starting near Todmorden town centre. The 13.3km course has 660m of climbing over steep and rough terrain. Full FRA mandatory kit is required.
