Wentworth Castle Gardens Trail Runs take place on 10 June 2026 as an evening trail running event. Distances offered:

  • 5 km - age 11 and over
  • 10 km - age 15 and over

Route descriptions note parkland paths, woodland trails, and historic landmarks. The event is canicross friendly: one controlled dog per runner is allowed and dogs must remain on a lead. Live chip-timing is provided by Timing Up North and results are delivered instantly. All finishers receive a medal, a merchandise item, and a snack and drink. A custom event T-shirt is available for an extra £12 during registration. Entry fees listed are £24 for the 5 km and £26 for the 10 km, with higher fees for entries that include a T-shirt.

Venue and facilities

The event is held at Wentworth Castle Gardens, Park Drive, Barnsley, South Yorkshire, S75 3EN (what3words ///force.began.unions). The gardens form a Grade I registered landscape covering 500 acres and include features such as the Rotunda, Serpentine Bridge, and Stainborough Castle, plus ancient woodlands. Run scenic looped trails around historic Kirkstall Abbey, following riverside paths, woodlands and towpaths with distances from 8.8 miles up to an ultra. Expect varied terrain, friendly marshals, feed stations and a bespoke finisher medal.

Run Leeds MoRun at Roundhay Park on 23 November 2025 with 1.5 km, 5 km, 10 km and half marathon options on a scenic but hilly park and trail course. Chip timed and dog friendly, every finisher receives a medal and headband with spot prizes.

Enjoy the Padfield Plum Fair Scamper, a friendly fell run in the Peak District. Cover 5.5 miles with 320 m of climb, soak up great views and join via pre entry or on the day.

Tackle the Black Night Scar fell race in Todmorden, a challenging evening run of 5.8 km with 315 m ascent under head torch light. Finish at the Hare and Hounds pub for refreshments and prize giving; pre and on day entry welcome.
