Wentworth Castle Gardens Trail Runs

Wentworth Castle Gardens Trail Runs take place on Wednesday 10 June 2026 at Wentworth Castle Gardens, Park Drive, Barnsley, South Yorkshire. The evening event offers access to the estate and two trail running distances through parkland and woodland.

The available distances are:

  • 5 km Trail Run, Great for younger runners, age 11+.
  • 10 km Trail Run, For runners aged 15+.

The routes pass parkland paths, ancient woodlands, and historic landmarks such as the Rotunda, Serpentine Bridge, and Stainborough Castle. The venue is a Grade I registered landscape covering around 500 acres and includes formal gardens, monuments, and gothic turrets.

The event is canicross friendly. One controlled dog per runner is allowed and dogs must remain on a lead at all times. Live chip timing is provided by Timing Up North to deliver instant and accurate race results. All finishers receive a medal, a merchandise item, and a snack and drink. A custom event T shirt is available for £12 during registration.

Scenic 5K, 10K and half marathon options in Bingley organised by Its Grim Up North Running, with finishers receiving a jumble medal plus hot food and a drink. Online places have sold out but places on the day are available.

Three trail routes start at Bakewell Showground and explore varied Peak District terrain including moors, valleys and parts of the Pennine Way. The Half Marathon route includes outposts and does not allow dogs.

A memorial trail run of about 5.5 miles from Worksop College into Clumber Park on 31 May 2026, with marshalling, first aid support and a finisher medal. All profits are donated to Cancer Research.
