Wentworth Castle Gardens Trail Runs

The Wentworth Castle Gardens Trail Runs take place on a Wednesday evening in Barnsley, South Yorkshire. The event offers runners the opportunity to traverse a Grade I registered landscape that spans 500 acres of rolling parkland and ancient woodlands. Participants gain exclusive evening access to the grounds, which feature various historic landmarks including the Rotunda, the Serpentine Bridge, and Stainborough Castle.

The courses consist of parkland paths and woodland trails, passing by gothic turrets and monuments throughout the estate. Two distance options are available:

  • 5 km trail run (minimum age 11)
  • 10 km trail run (minimum age 15)

The event is canicross-friendly, allowing one controlled dog per runner provided they remain on a lead at all times. All participants receive live chip-timing with results provided immediately after the race.

Amenities for participants include free on-site parking for both runners and spectators. At the finish line, all runners receive a medal, a merchandise item, and a snack and drink. Participants also have the option to purchase a custom event T-shirt during the registration process. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
