Wentworth Castle Gardens Trail Runs

Wentworth Castle Gardens hosts evening trail races on Wednesday 16 June 2027 in Barnsley, South Yorkshire. The event takes place within Wentworth Castle Gardens and provides access to the estate after daytime opening hours. Two distances are offered:

• 5 km Trail Run, age 11 and over
• 10 km Trail Run, age 15 and over

The routes run on parkland paths and woodland trails and pass several historic landmarks, including the Rotunda, Serpentine Bridge, and Stainborough Castle. The gardens cover about 500 acres of rolling parkland with formal gardens, monuments, and areas of ancient woodland, offering varied terrain and views around gothic turrets and estate features.

The event is canicross friendly: one controlled dog per runner is allowed and dogs must remain on a lead at all times. Live chip-timing is provided by Timing Up North and results are recorded electronically. All finishers receive a medal, a merchandise item, and a snack and drink; competitors can add a custom event T-shirt to their entry for £14.
