Wincle Trout

The Wincle Trout is a hill running event held as part of the annual Wincle Fete, which is usually on the second Saturday in June. The course runs around the Dane Valley and Gradbach and typically measures between 5 and 6.5 miles. The route includes several river crossings and varies each year depending on which local farm is hosting the fete.

The host farm changes year to year; recent editions have started from locations described as Burnt House Farm (2025), Brink Farm (2022), Tolls Farm (2024) and Mellor Knoll Farm (2023). Race reports and results have been produced for multiple years, including editions from 2019 through 2025.

Participants receive a trout at the finish and are offered tea and cake. The event is presented alongside the wider fete activities and uses farmland and valley paths for the course, with the specific line routed by the hosting farm in each year.
