The Wizard 5

The Wizard 5 is a multi-terrain, five mile race around the footpaths and quiet lanes of Alderley Edge, Nether Alderley and Hare Hill. The course follows its traditional route through the woodland on The Edge, out to Hare Hill via Adders Moss and back across the fields via Daniel Hill. The event is organised by Wilmslow Running Club and all race proceeds are donated to charity.

The race is licensed by England Athletics (Race Licence No30941) and held under UK Athletics rules. In accordance with those rules the course is unsuitable for the use of headphones or buggies. A team competition is included: each team comprises four runners, of whom two must be female, two must be male, one must be aged 35 or under and one must be aged 60 or over; teams must be nominated in the week preceding the event.

Practical information includes limited parking, with the National Trust car park on Macclesfield Road, Nether Alderley (SK10 4UB) free to runners on the night, and race numbers collected at Race HQ in front of The Wizard Tea Rooms. Entry fees noted are £15 for individual entries and £13 for running club members; entries close 24 July 2026. Transfers and refund terms are stated in the organiser information. A runners guide, course map and a GPX file are provided for participants. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
