The Wizard 5

The Wizard 5 is a multi-terrain race covering a distance of 5 miles. Organized by Wilmslow Running Club, the event utilized its traditional route through the scenic landscapes of Alderley Edge, Nether Alderley, and Hare Hill. All proceeds from the race are donated to charity.

The course transitions through various environments, including woodland paths on The Edge, quiet lanes, and agricultural fields. Participants travel out toward Hare Hill via Adders Moss and return across the fields by way of Daniel Hill. The route passes through private farmland at Mount Farm and area managed by the National Trust. Because the event takes place on diverse terrain and follows England Athletics rules, the course is not suitable for the use of buggies or headphones.

The race headquarters is located at the National Trust Car Park on Macclesfield Road, specifically in front of the Wizard Tea Rooms. Runners collect their event numbers at this location on the evening of the race. Parking facilities at the site are limited, and participants are encouraged to carpool or use the nearby Alderley Edge train station.
