The Wizard 5

The Wizard 5 is a multi-terrain road and trail race held on 28 July 2026. The course covers 5 miles around the footpaths and quiet lanes of Alderley Edge, Nether Alderley and Hare Hill. The route follows the traditional course through the woodland on The Edge, out to Hare Hill via Adders Moss and returning across fields via Daniel Hill.

The event is organised by Wilmslow Running Club and race proceeds are donated to charity. A team competition is included: each team comprises four runners, with two female and two male members, and team composition must include one runner aged 35 or under and one aged 60 or over. Teams must be nominated in the week preceding the event.

In accordance with England Athletics rules the course is unsuitable for the use of headphones or buggies. The event is licensed by England Athletics, Race Licence No 30941.

Parking at the National Trust car park on Macclesfield Road is very limited; car sharing or travelling from Alderley Edge train station is suggested. The National Trust car park is free to runners on the night. Race numbers are collected at Race HQ in front of The Wizard Tea Rooms.

Entry fees listed for the event include an individual rate of £15 and a reduced rate of £13 for running club members. Entries close 24 July 2026 and a waiting list is currently in operation. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
