Trail Running calendar near Cleator 2026-2027

A roughly 100 km coast-to-coast ultra across the Lake District with about 3,500 m ascent, marked support points and mandatory kit checks. The route follows Wainwright’s trail from St Bees to Shap and includes GPX and map support.

A 26 miles anti clockwise loop around Allendale, Northumberland, organised by North of Tyne Mountain Rescue Team to raise funds. The route crosses Hard Rigg, Black Hill and Kilhope Law and returns via Spartylea, The Drag and Ladlewell.

The Northern Traverse will take place in Saint Bees from Saturday 3 April 2027 to Wednesday 7 April 2027. You can run 300 kilometers.

A single-category fell race at Barley on Sat 3 Apr 2027 covering 7.3 km with 457 m of climb; entry is on the day only with modest fees and the event carries FRA permit insurance.

A 55 km ultra along Wainwright’s coast to coast route from Kirkby Stephen to Richmond on 4 April 2027. The event crosses the North Pennines and Yorkshire Dales with mandatory kit checks, staffed aid stations and a transported finishers bag.

Forest trail event in Whinlatter on 4 April 2027 offering 9 km and 12 km routes with substantial ascent. Both courses use wide forest tracks, are chip timed, and allow dogs on a suitable harness.

Trail running in Hawkshead with marked 10 km and 16 km routes, scenic Lake District views and the steep Coffin Trail climb. Courses are marshalled with water stations, event village facilities and category prizes for eligible starters.

A trail running festival in Keswick on 10 April 2027 with two routes, 53k and 23k, across classic Lake District terrain. The event is TRA licensed and includes live ultra tracking, chip timing, photos and a themed medal.

A community charity relay at Haverthwaite Station near Ulverston with mixed teams formed on the day and an entry fee of £3 per person. Parking is at the station and a free train service is provided for runners and spectators.

A canicross event in Dodd Wood with fully marked, chip timed trail loops and views across Bassenthwaite Lake. Two route options are offered, individual starts are used, and two dogs are allowed on wider sections.

An annual fell race across the Three Peaks area with main, relay and junior events. Relay teams of six cover three defined legs; the event is part of the World Mountain Running Ranking and is a UTMB Index race.

A trail event at Whinlatter offering two marked routes, an 8K reaching the summit of Seat How and a 5K joining the lower section. The event is chip timed, marked, and includes the season prize giving at the finish.

May 2027

A 50 mile trail ultra from Malham across the Yorkshire Dales with 2593 m of ascent and live GPS tracking. The route includes Malham Cove and the Yorkshire three peaks and features five supported checkpoints and mandatory kit checks.

Trail running at Staveley, Cumbria with 5 km, 10 km and half marathon routes on marked, marshalled trails, varied terrain and an event village offering music, food and merchandise.

A 14 km fell race in Coniston on 1 May 2027 with 1065 m of ascent, pre entry only via SI Entries and fees for members and non members; parking is at Coniston CE Primary School only.

A 9.6 km fell race near Accrington on 2 May 2027 with 338 m of climb. It is a Category BS event with UK Athletics insurance, open to entrants aged 18 and over with pre entry and on the day options.

Trail half marathon and 10K in Whinlatter Forest on 2 May 2027, with hilly forest routes, live chip timing and a canicross option. Finishers receive a medal, drink and snack.

An evening trail event at Gibside National Trust across wooded and garden landscape with 5km and 10km options, live chip timing, Canicross welcome, finishers' medal and onsite parking.

A trail event at Brockholes Nature Reserve in Preston offering 10k, half marathon, marathon and timed ultra options on marked paths with refreshments, a bespoke medal and medical cover.

A 47 miles (75K) fully waymarked ultra around Lake Windermere open to runners and walkers, with GPS tracking, six feed stations and a bag drop at Troutbeck. Competitors must carry mandatory kit and complete the route within 24 hours.
