The Coniston Fell Race takes place on Saturday 2 May 2026 in Coniston, Lake District, England. The venue is the Coniston Institute (LA21 8DU). The race is a Category AM fell race. The course is approximately 14 km (8.7 miles) with 1,065 m (3,494 ft) of ascent. Minimum age is 18 and the entry limit is 300 runners. Entry is by pre-entry only; there are FRA member and non-member fees of £10 and £15 respectively. There will be no entries on the day. The race has a permit and associated UK Athletics insurance from the FRA.

Course, rules and facilities

Checkpoints are on the summits of Wetherlam, Swirl How and the Old Man of Coniston, with the finish at Peascroft. The race starts on the Copper Mines Road and includes flagged sections and signposted lines from local landmarks. There is a 90 minute cut-off at Swirl Hause; this may be reduced in bad weather. Navigation is by map and compass only; GPS use is forbidden except in an emergency, and running poles are not permitted. Mandatory kit includes waterproof jacket and trousers with taped seams, map and compass, whistle, hat, gloves and emergency food. Kit checks take place at registration. Parking is at Coniston CE Primary School with a small charge; parking elsewhere in the village is not permitted. Water will be available at the finish.
