Lake District Running Festival
The Lake District Running Festival takes place over two days at Grasmere Showground in the Lake District on 30 and 31 May 2026. The weekend brings together trail runners, fell runners, ultra runners and orienteers for racing and social activity in the Grasmere area.
Events on the weekend include:
- 5.7 km trail run
- 10 km trail run
- 17 km trail run
- 10 km Nordic Walk
- Marathon trail race
- 5 km loop used for the Grasmere 24 hour Ultra
The OMM Lite Trail Quest uses a checkpoint format across the Grasmere area. Competitors receive a supplied map and must navigate using only that map and a compass; GPS devices are not permitted. Points are earned by visiting checkpoints and penalties apply for exceeding the time limit. Entries may be solo or teams of two or three, with long and short course options across the two days.
The Grasmere 24 hour Ultra is run on a fully waymarked 5 km loop around Grasmere. Entrants may compete solo or in teams of up to four with only one team member on course at any time. Runners must complete at least one lap each hour to remain in the event. Runners who complete the full 24 hours receive a bespoke medal and event photographs; live GPS tracking is provided for finishers.
Family activities include a Teddy Dash for under 5s and a Kids Fun Run of about 2 km for under 12s, with on the day registration. Day parking, camping and shower options are available for purchase. Competitor notes will be available to download after entries close. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
