Lakeland Paws Whinlatter Double Header

The Lakeland Paws Whinlatter Double Header serves as the concluding event of the Lakeland Paws Season 4. Held at Whinlatter, the event utilizes a course that consists of forest roads and trails, including a route traditional to the series that reaches the summit of Seat How. The event is chip timed and fully marked, with GPX files available for participants.

The competition features individual starts for each athlete to ensure adequate space for dogs to start safely. While runners are permitted to compete without dogs, those running with a dog are limited to one per person. Dogs must be equipped with a suitable harness; the organizers provide harnesses for loan if necessary. Due to sections of the course being narrow and steep, specific equipment and participation rules are enforced.

Participants can choose between two main distance options:

  • 8 km (5 miles): This loop involves 360 m of ascent and reaches the summit of Seat How before returning to the visitor centre.
  • 5 km (3 miles): This shorter route avoids Seat How and includes 240 m of ascent, following the second half of the longer course.

The event has no cut-off times, allowing participants to walk the course if they prefer. Registration is open to individuals aged 16 and older. The season prize giving ceremony takes place at the conclusion of this event. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
