Trail Running calendar near Peebles 2026-2027

A junior fell-racing round at Whinlatter Forest Park on 12 July 2026, with races for U10 to U20 categories and mapped courses of 1.5–5.6 km. Junior entries are by pre-entry only and the event follows FRA rules.

Chapelfell Top is an AS graded 7 km fell race in St. John’s Chapel, Weardale featuring 400 m of ascent to the 703 m summit and a return on the same route. The event is organised by Durham Fell Runners and run under FRA rules.

A scenic 15 km race in Moffat featuring a long climb and a steep stony section followed by a 4.6 mile descent into town. Junior races and a tots dash are included, with optional shirts and finisher mementoes.

Experience a 7.2 km hill race up Cairn Table in East Ayrshire. This chip timed event features rough terrain and unmarked routes for runners seeking a self reliant hill running experience.

An evening team relay at Derwenthaugh Country Park on 16 July, run by Derwent Valley Running Club. Teams of three, age 16 plus, must include at least one male and one female; entry is £18 per team and parking is limited.

A social 10 km trail run from Milngavie Train Station along the Clyde Coastal path and West Highland Way, led by a qualified guide. Trail shoes are mandatory and dogs and under 18s are not permitted.

An uphill only vertical K style race in Patterdale, the Swirral Grind 850 covers 6 km with 850 m of ascent to a trig point near Helvellyn. It is part of the Rab Helvellyn Sky Ultra weekend on 17 July 2026.

Trail races at Whitelee Wind Farm over the weekend of 17 to 19 July 2026, offering 10K, half marathon, 50K and a free junior mile for under 16s. The event includes an Event Village at Turbine 53, checkpoints and parking on site.

A technical 28 km skyrace on the Helvellyn Massif near Patterdale with 2700 m ascent, mandatory climbing experience and a pre selection entry process; includes GPS tracking, a marked course and a post race meal.

A 57 km mountain race in Patterdale on 18 July 2026 with 3700 m of ascent. The course follows Lake District paths and exposed ridges including Striding Edge, Swirral Edge and Long Stile Edge and is classed as a Skyrunning UK Sky Extra.

A technical 29 km sky race in Patterdale with 2050 m ascent across the central and eastern fells of the Lake District. The fully marked course features manned checkpoints, a feed station, electronic timing and a safety team.

A semi technical 15 km trail around the base of Place Fell on Ullswater with 680 m ascent. Marked course, a feed station, electronic timing and a plantable Wild Flower Seed medal.

A 10 km trail race at Northumberlandia near Cramlington that runs over the landform and surrounding countryside. The course uses stone paths, soft trails and forest tracks and includes a water station and a bespoke finisher medal.

Trail runs at Callendar House in Falkirk offer three distances, live chip timing and Canicross access. Finishers receive a medal, event merchandise and a snack and drink.

A flat 5 mile, two-lap trail race in Ashington on 21 July 2026 with prizes, a finisher gift and a small donation to Friends of the Woods; entry is limited and parking is a short walk from the race HQ.

The Fellside Fell Race will take place in Caldbeck on Wednesday 22 July 2026. You can run 11 kilometers.

An evening urban orienteering event at Pollock Park on 22nd July 2026 where pairs follow clues to navigate point to point. The course is described as very basic and no compass is required.

A traditional hill race in the Pentland Hills with a senior 5.2 km course rising 310 m and a shorter junior out and back of about 2.2 km. Senior entry is paid while the junior race is free and the entry includes a donation to the Pentland H..

A guided social 8 km trail run from Milngavie Train Station on 23 July 2026 that follows parts of the Clyde Coastal Path and the West Highland Way. A qualified insured guide leads a managed group and trail shoes are required.

A hill race on 25 July 2026 as part of the Falkland Gala. The course covers just under 6 miles with over 400 m of ascent across paths, fields and hillside, is well marshalled, and requires mandatory kit and personal hydration.
