Trail Running calendar near Newcastleton 2026-2027

Gowbarrow Round is a 7.6 km fell race in the Lake District on Sat 20 Jun 2026. Entry is on the day only with a £5 fee and a minimum age of 16. The event is based at The Royal Hotel, Dockray, and carries FRA permit insurance.

A 5.4 km hill race to the summit of The Law in Tillicoultry, featuring 630 metres of ascent, a marked walkers path and a same-route return. Part of the SHR and East District Championships with limited entries and mandatory kit requirements.

A 7 hour timed trail event along the River Wear in Durham where runners choose distances from a 3 km minimum up to marathon, ultra and a 50 km option, with themed medals, distance pins and goody bags.

A short fell race in Hawkswick with a steep climb to a ridge and a very steep descent back across a bridge. The one-lap course is about 1.40 miles and counts for the BOFRA Championship, with age categories from Under 9 to Seniors.

A 7 hour trail Time Challenge on Sunday 21 June 2026 in Durham along the River Wear with cathedral views. Distances range from a 3 km minimum up to marathon, 50 km and ultra, with medals, pins and goody bags for finishers.

An 11 km loop around Baystones and Wansfell starting at YHA Windermere, featuring about 500 metres of ascent. Post race coffee, tea and cake are served and all profits support YHA Breaks.

A trail running event in Barnard Castle on 21 June 2026 offering 3.5, 9 and 15 mile routes along the Teesdale Way with marked courses, aid stations, on-site facilities and optional post-run yoga.

The Fellrunner at Windy Gyle is a rugged 13.7 km test with 549 m of climb across scenic Northumberland hills on Sun 21 Jun 2026. Entry on the day is welcome with modest fees for members and non members.

A muddy 5k obstacle course in The Meadows, Edinburgh on 21 June 2026 where participants climb, crawl and slide across a single grass lap. The course may be uneven and waterlogged and a minimum fundraising target of £50 applies.

Take on the Reston Scar Scamper at Staveley Mill Yard on Wed 24 Jun 2026, a lively 6 km fell race with 301 m of climb across fully marked Lake District trails. On the day entry is £5 and all proceeds support Staveley community projects.

A three day outdoor festival at Drumlanrig Castle in Dumfries and Galloway from 26 to 28 June 2026 featuring enduro, gravel and trail events alongside wellness sessions and live entertainment. Results will be posted on race day.

An evening trail running festival at Calderglen Country Park on 26 June 2026, with races from a toddler dash to a 10k, chip timing, marshalled courses and an after-race buffet. A donation is made from each 5k and 10k entry.

Trail runs in Chopwell Woods offer mapped 5, 10 and 15 mile routes through mixed woodland with live chip timing. Finishers receive a medal, a burger or alternative, and a drink.

A new 3.45 miles / 6.00 km fell race on 27 June 2026 around Kirkby-in-Furness, climbing 750 feet. The event counts for the BOFRA Championship and includes junior and senior age categories.

A return fell race from Alston playing field to Park Fell and back, covering 6.2 km with 211 m of ascent. It marks the Alston Gala 50th Anniversary and donates entry fees to the local mountain rescue team.

Two trail races at Honister Slate Mine on 27 June 2026 combine fell climbs with a 700 m underground tunnel section. Routes are flagged and marshaled, helmets and headtorches are required, and the event is open to those aged 16 and over.

MacTuffX Ayr on 27 June 2026 is a functional fitness race at Riverside Arena featuring ten Xercises and repeated runs over two distance options. Entries are available for solo, doubles, and five person relays with a LITE weight division.

An obstacle 5k at Herrington Country Park on 27 June 2026 where participants climb, crawl and slide through muddy obstacles. Organised by Cancer Research UK with a minimum fundraising target of £50 and separate adult and child entry fees.

Trail Blazer Coastal Edition near Widdrington advertises a 10K course that runs closer to 12K along the Northumbrian coastal path. The day features live music, food vendors, drinks, llamas in a field, and no cut-off times.
