Lakeland Trails in Keswick

Lakeland Trails in Keswick is a set of trail events that start and finish at Fitz Park, Keswick. The routes are circuits on well marked and marshalled footpaths and bridleways around Derwentwater, with panoramic views of Skiddaw, Blencathra and the northern fells. Underfoot is mainly hard packed trail with occasional muddy sections; there are no stiles on the course and sections include the Glenderaterra Valley boggy terrain.

Age limits, time limits and prizes vary by distance. The 5K is open to those aged 12 and over and has no time limit. The 10K requires entrants to be at least 16 and has a two hour time limit; prize eligibility is limited to runners in the Race start. The 15K has Race and Challenge options, requires entrants to be at least 18, and the Challenge has a 3.5 hour limit with a safety cut-off at 4.8K; prizes are available only to Race starters. Entry fees are shown per event and include concessions for younger runners; earlybird reduced-price places are limited to the first 250 entries and club members have a further discount option.

Event facilities include an event village with live music, race commentary, food and drink stalls, real-time results, portable toilets and baggage storage. Safety measures include event medics and radio communications, on-course marshals, rules on headphones (in-ear not allowed; bone conductor permitted) and a strict no-dogs policy. Parking is available at Keswick School with a published fee and free parking for cars with four or more occupants.
