Lakeland Trails Keswick : Derwentwater trail races

Lakeland Trails in Keswick offers three marked, marshalled circuit events around Derwentwater. The venue is Fitz Park and routes use footpaths and bridleways with panoramic views of Derwentwater and the surrounding peaks including Skiddaw and Blencathra. Underfoot is mainly hard packed trail with occasional muddy sections; the course has no stiles and includes varied terrain such as sections through the Glenderaterra Valley.

  • 5k Derwentwater Sport Trail, open to ages 12 and over, no time limit
  • 10k Derwentwater Trail Run, open to ages 16 and over, 2 hour time limit
  • 15k Derwentwater Trail Race and Challenge, open to ages 18 and over, time limits apply

Practical information: registration takes place at the event marquee and race numbers must be collected on race day. Parking at Keswick School is charged for cars and vans with free parking for vehicles carrying four or more occupants; a short walk links the car park and event centre. Water stations are provided on the 10k and 15k courses; participants are asked to bring a reusable cup or carry their own water.

Safety and conduct: advanced medics will be present, marshals will manage the course, headphones that block ambient sound are not permitted, and dogs are not allowed on the course. An 11 km fell race in the Lake District held at Dean Barwick Primary School on Sun 19 Apr 2026. Entry is on the day with a flagged route, UK Athletics insurance in place and refreshments available.

A trail run across RAF Spadeadam that passes Blue Streak launch platforms, military sites and scenic views. Two distances are offered, entries run from August 2025 to April 2026 and proceeds support the RAF Benevolent Fund.
