The Iron Keep – Five Hour Siege Run

The Iron Keep is a five hour multi-lap endurance event set within and around a medieval-style village at Carron Valley and Duncarron Medieval Village. The objective is to complete as many full laps as possible within the five hour time limit. Only laps started before the final bell count towards a competitor's total.

The course loops through the village centre so runners pass the start and finish area on every lap. The village square functions as the event hub and features a tavern-style aid station, team camp and rest areas, live announcements and music, and clear lap counting and race updates.

Three racing categories are offered: Solo, Pairs and Quads. Team categories operate relay-style with only one runner from each team on course at a time. Fancy dress is encouraged; medieval, fantasy and other creative interpretations are welcome provided costumes are safe to run in and comply with race kit rules. Prizes are awarded for best individual costume, best team theme and a People’s Champion chosen by crowd vote.

Winners receive themed titles such as Iron Keep Champion for the most laps overall and Lord and Lady of the Keep for solo winners. Entries open 1 February and pre-registration is available. The event date is 5 September 2026. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
