The Maverick Kielder Forest Gravel takes place on 5 September 2026 at Kielder Castle, Kielder, Hexham, Northumberland NE48 1EP. The event uses forest trails featuring fast sections, steady inclines and viewpoints through the Kielder Forest. Camping is available in the forest for participants who wish to stay over the weekend.

Distances on offer follow varied terrain and elevation profiles:

  • 52 km Ultra, elevation +1409 m
  • 41 km Marathon, elevation +950 m
  • 24 km Half Marathon, elevation +568 m
  • 12 km Middle, elevation +500 m
  • 5 km Short, elevation +184 m

The course is fully marked and fully timed, with online results and event photography. Outposts will provide top-up food and electrolyte drinks but will not offer pre-filled cups; runners should carry a reusable cup or bottle. Participants are asked to support a plastic-free approach.

Mandatory items are required for the Ultra and Marathon routes. All runners are strongly recommended to carry at least one litre of water and a mobile phone. Mandatory items include a waterproof jacket, mobile phone, around 800 calories of food, minimum one litre of water, self-adhesive bandage, whistle, foil blanket, hat or buff, a reusable cup, and a GPX of the route.
