The Maverick Kielder Forest Gravel 2026

The Maverick Kielder Forest Gravel run takes place at Kielder Castle in Kielder, Hexham, Northumberland (NE48 1EP). The event marks the centenary of Kielder Forest and offers five measured trail distances that start from the castle and run through forest terrain with fast trails and steady inclines.

Available routes:

  • 50 km Ultra - +1177 m elevation, £89
  • 43 km Marathon - +869 m elevation, £79
  • 23 km Half Marathon - +407 m elevation, £49
  • 12 km Middle - +487 m elevation, £39
  • 6 km Short - +205 m elevation, £25

The course is fully marked, fully timed and supported by fuel and hydration outposts offering snacks, gels and electrolyte drinks. Outposts aim to be cup free so participants should bring a reusable cup or bottle. There are bag drop facilities, event photography, online results and metal finisher medals. On-site camping is available with pitches for tents and campervans plus family pods and caravans. Parking at the venue is pay and display (£6.50).

Cut-off limits apply to the longer routes: Ultra runners have 8 hours 30 minutes to complete 50 km and Marathon runners have 8 hours to complete 42 km; outpost cut-offs are enforced for safety. Entries for under 18s must be accompanied by a participating adult. Dog spaces are limited and must be added to an entry. A multi-entry discount is offered when entering three races.
