The Maverick Kielder Forest Gravel is a trail running event on September 5, 2026. It takes place in Kielder Forest, Northumberland, starting at Kielder Castle. The event marks the forest's centenary.

The Routes

Five routes are available:

  • Ultra: 52 km with +1409 m elevation.
  • Marathon: 41 km with +950 m elevation.
  • Half Marathon: 24 km with +568 m elevation.
  • Middle: 12 km with +500 m elevation.
  • Short: 5 km with +184 m elevation.

The courses use fast forest trails and have steady inclines. There are cut-off times for the Ultra and Marathon routes, with all runners required to finish by 17:30.

Additional Information

Participants receive a finisher's medal, online results, event photography, and access to aid stations with snacks and drinks. Free parking and a bag drop area are provided. Runners are asked to bring a reusable cup or bottle, as aid stations do not provide pre-filled cups. For safety, carrying a minimum of 1 litre of water, a raincoat, a foil blanket, and a mobile phone is strongly recommended for all runners; these items are mandatory for those on the Ultra and Marathon routes.
