The Maverick Kielder Forest Gravel 2026

The event is a trail running meeting held at Kielder Castle, Kielder, Hexham, Northumberland (NE48 1EP), celebrating a century of Kielder Forest. The route network uses forest trails and includes steady inclines and viewpoints through the woodland.

Distances available include:

  • Ultra: 52 km (elevation +1409 m)
  • Marathon: 41 km (elevation +950 m)
  • Half Marathon: 24 km (elevation +568 m)
  • Middle: 12 km (elevation +500 m)
  • Short: 5 km (elevation +184 m)

Participants are asked to carry a reusable cup or bottle.

Safety measures include cut-off points for the Ultra and Marathon routes and mandatory kit for those distances. Mandatory items for Ultra and Marathon include a waterproof jacket, mobile phone, at least 800 calories of food, a minimum of 1 litre of water, a self-adhesive elastic bandage, a whistle, a foil blanket, a hat or buff, a reusable cup and a GPX of the route. The organiser also strongly recommends not wearing headphones. Participants under 18 must be accompanied by a participating adult. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
