Ingleton Three Counties Fell Race

Ingleton, United Kingdom • 5 Sep 2026

A challenging high-level fell race through the Yorkshire Dales

The Ingleton Three Counties Fell Race is an event that starts and finishes in the village of Ingleton. The course follows a logical route around the watershed of two rivers, crossing through three different counties. Participants begin in Yorkshire, visit the highest point in Lancashire, enter Cumbria, and return to Yorkshire. The race covers a distance of 31.1 km with a total ascent of 1580 m.

The route traverses technical terrain and familiar landmarks. Participants run from Mealbank Hall toward Kingsdale, navigating rough open fell to reach Gragareth and the ridge at Green Hill. After crossing into Cumbria, the path involves a steep climb to the Whernside trigpoint followed by a descent to Ribblehead. The final sections take runners across Park Fell and Ingleborough before returning to the village.

Registration and participation requirements include:

  • 31.1 km (19.3 miles)

The race is restricted to individuals aged 18 and over with experience in navigating arduous open fell terrain. The event is registered as an AL (A-Long) race with the Fell Runners Association. Mandatory kit includes a waterproof jacket and trousers with competition-standard taped seams, a hat, gloves, a map, a compass, a whistle, and food. All kit is inspected during registration at Mealbank Hall. To ensure safety, there is an overall time limit of 6 hours 30 minutes, with a specific cut-off at Ribblehead.

Parking is available at the Ingleton Waterfalls Broadwood entrance for a fee. The event has an entry limit of 100 competitors. Organizers request that no practice runs or reconnaissances are carried out on the route, as certain sections pass through land that is not open access.
