Castle to Castle Ultra

The Castle to Castle Ultra is a 36 mile endurance running event on Saturday 18 July 2026, running from Clitheroe Castle to Lancaster Castle through Lancashire. The route is largely on trails but passes through some urban areas with road crossings; roads are not closed.

Event facilities include medals, finisher hoodies, live tracking, chip timing, a fully marked route and refreshment checkpoints. There are six checkpoints; all provide water and cordial and four offer additional snacks. The maximum permitted time for completion is 10 hours.

Entry is by pre-registration only; there are no entries on the day. The event is restricted to competitors aged over 18. The entry fee is £65 and entry closes on Sunday 12 July 2026.

Race pack collection and a kit check take place in Clitheroe Park. Mandatory kit includes a waterproof coat or running jacket with sealed seams, a long sleeved base layer, a water bottle or bladder with a minimum 1 litre capacity, a fully charged mobile phone, a foil blanket and a whistle.

Return transport to Clitheroe is available for runners for a charge of £10 when booking entry, with approximate return times published at registration. If a participant is in difficulty inform checkpoint marshals or Race HQ. In a life threatening emergency call 999 first and then inform Race HQ.
