Castle to Castle Ultra (Ultra 36)

The Castle to Castle Ultra is a point to point 36 mile event held on 18 July 2026 between Clitheroe Castle and Lancaster Castle. The route is largely on trails but passes through urban areas and includes road crossings; roads remain open at these points.

The course is fully marked and includes refreshment checkpoints, chip timing and live tracking. Finishers receive a hoodie and a medal. Race pack collection and kit check take place in Clitheroe Park.

Entry is by pre-registration only; there are no entries on the day. The entry fee is £65.00. Registration closes on Sunday 12 July 2026. The event is restricted to competitors aged over 18.

Return transport back to Clitheroe is available to runners for a separate charge of £10 when booking entry; transport departures are listed as approximately 3pm and 6pm. The maximum permitted completion time for the course is 10 hours. Participants should note the presence of road crossings and take care at these locations.

Mandatory kit includes a waterproof coat or running jacket with sealed seams, a long sleeved base layer, a water bottle or bladder of at least 1 litre, a fully charged mobile phone, a foil blanket and a whistle.
