THE ROC ENGLAND

THE ROC ENGLAND is a five-stage endurance race in the Lake District, centred on Lakeside, Windermere and the ascent of Scafell Pike. The event is scheduled for Saturday 5 September 2026 and follows a fixed sequence of disciplines: swim, bike, mountain run, bike, run.

The full course covers 112 km. The route reaches a summit elevation of 3,209 ft and has a reported total ascent of 6,916 ft. The start location is listed as Lakeside, Newby Bridge, Ulverston, Cumbria LA12.

Distances for each stage are:

  • 1.5 km lake swim
  • 46.5 km road bike
  • 18 km mountain run
  • 45.5 km road bike

The format combines open-water swimming on Windermere, two separate road cycling legs that pass local waterways including Coniston Water, a mountain run to and from the summit of England's highest mountain, and a short trail run to finish. Take on the Mike Mallen Memorial Round Latrigg, a classic 5 mile fell race from Fitz Park in Keswick with scenic trails and friendly marshals. Day entry available for ages 16 plus and all funds raised go to charity.

A short fell race at Beckside Farm in Ulverston on 13 June 2026 featuring a climb to the top of Flan Fell and separate turning points for Under 14 and older categories.

A two-day trail running weekend in Grizedale Forest with an eight hour relay on a 7 km loop and a 22 km individual race over two 11 km laps. The event includes camping, food vendors, live timing, talks and on-site facilities.

A classic fell race around Buttermere Village of just over 9 miles with over 4000 ft of ascent, featuring steep rocky climbs, ridge running and long technical descents. Team entries and designated race parking are provided.
