Trail Running calendar near Great Baddow 2026-2027

A guided 16k run at High Lodge in Thetford Forest with forest information and practical trail-running tips. Runs are led at a conversational pace and suit road runners taking their first steps into trail running.

Christmas Canter at Suffolk Running Centre offers 5k, 10k, half, full and ultra distances, a bespoke finisher medal, aid stations every 10k and parking included. The event uses loop and out and back formats and has a seven hour cut off.

A dawn to dusk trail challenge at Box Hill where runners complete laps of a roughly 10 mile loop with about 2,400 ft ascent per lap; entries include insurance, medical cover and a finisher medal.

A social 12k at Chelmsford Brewery with a GPX and Strava route, checkpoint drinks and Christmas medals, plus encouraged fancy dress.

A 50 km trail ultra along the North Downs Way from Detling to Wye with about 1,000 m of ascent, three checkpoints and mandatory kit requirements. The route passes Boxley Warren, Thurnham Castle, Lenham Cross and the Wye Downs.

Trail runs at Wendover Woods on 20 December 2026 include a Santa Mile plus 5 mile and 10 mile races, with medals, merchandise and festive refreshments for finishers.

A lap-based running challenge at Abberton Reservoir on 20 December 2026. Runners complete repeated 5 km loops on off-road paths, with a free feed station, a medal for all and proceeds supporting Essex Wildlife Trust.

A lakeside Christmas event in Milton Keynes offering marathon and half marathon options with 7½ and 3½ clockwise laps of Caldecotte Lake. Finishers receive a bespoke medal and the event is held under 100 Marathon Club rules.

A 10 km trail run and canicross at Renegade Brewery on the Yattendon Estate. The course is mostly off road with one water refill station and finishers receive a medal, a pint cup with a free drink and a mince pie.

A 7 hour Time Challenge along the River Thames in Staines offering distances from 3 km up to 50 km, medal and goody bag, plus an optional Christmas dinner at The Last Hop.

A traditional 3.5 mile Boxing Day run around Hindhead commons and the Devils Punch Bowl, with Mens, Ladies and a Drinking Run category. All profits support Holy Cross Hospital.

Final round of the four-event Trifarm Winter series: a mainly off-road 10 km on public footpaths and bridleways at Trifarm in Boreham on 27 December 2026.

A winter cross-country event at Butlers Lands Farm featuring water crossings, Roman Walls, fields and footpaths. Distances are 10K and 10 Mile with entry fees from £32 to £35; finish-line refreshments include mulled wine and mince pies.

A challenging 10K trail race on Box Hill with steep climbs, rough trails, a water station at 6 km and a separate children s fun run.

An annual New Year five mile cross country in Penshurst village over rolling hills and woodland trails. Open to ages 10 and above with entry fees supporting Hospice in the Weald and awards across junior, local and canicross categories.

Looped races at Chalfont Park Sports Club and Chalfont St Peter Community Centre let runners choose distances from single 7K or 10K laps up to ultramarathons, with drop bag access, aid stations, crew support and on-site medical cover.
