The Shortest Day

The Shortest Day is a one-day dawn to dusk winter trail challenge held at Box Hill Main Car Park, Box Hill, Dorking. The event takes place on 19 December 2026 and is organised by The Trail Run Collective.

Participants run a repeated trail loop of approximately 10 miles with about 2,400 ft of elevation gain per lap. Runners may stop after any completed loop, so each competitor decides how many laps to complete while running from sunrise to sunset. The event has a minimum age requirement of 18 years on the event date.

Entry includes full insurance, medical cover, aid stations on course, and a finisher medal. The event offers an optional purchase of XCover for possible refund in case of unforeseen inability to attend. Entries open on 12 March 2026 and close on 12 December 2026.
