Christmas Day Cracker Run 2026

The Christmas Day Cracker Run is a timed event held on Christmas Day along the River Thames in Egham. Participants can choose to run or walk the course, which is located on public footpaths along the river. The event uses a 7 hour time challenge format, giving participants control over the total distance they complete within that window.

The course consists of laps measuring approximately 7 km (4.37 miles), though this may be adjusted to a 3.28 mile loop depending on ground conditions at the time. Specific turn points are placed at 3 km and 5 km to facilitate shorter distances and accommodate age-related distance restrictions. Typical distances achieved through multiple laps include:

  • 3 km
  • 5 km
  • 10 km
  • Half Marathon
  • Marathon
  • 50 km
  • Ultra Marathon

The primary event hub is located at the Wraysbury Skiff and Punting Club. Facilities at the race headquarters include toilets and changing areas. There is an unmanned area near the start for bag storage. Parking is available at the Runnymede Pleasure Grounds using a pay on exit system.

Participants who complete at least 3 km are considered official finishers and receive a themed medal. Runners reaching half marathon distance or further are also eligible for specific distance pins. The event features a themed aid station providing various food items, including vegan options. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
