Knacker Cracker

Dorking, United Kingdom • 1 Jan 2026

Event overview

Knacker Cracker is a trail running event scheduled for 1 January 2026. The race is a single 10K event that starts at the bottom of Box Hill and finishes at Box Hill Fort at the top of Box Hill in Surrey. Registration and parking are at Denbies Vineyard, London Road, Dorking (participants normally walk from Denbies to the start). A children's fun run, the Nipper Knacker, runs at the same time with no entry cost, no official results and a carrot for participants under 16. The event is UK Athletics affiliated.

Course and logistics

The route is exactly 10.000 km with 473 m of ascent and 335 m of descent and includes five major ascents of Box Hill. The course runs mostly on rough tracks with steep, rutted and potentially muddy or icy sections; overhead hazards such as brambles or fallen trees may be present. There is a water station at 6 km. Earphones and headphones are not permitted on the course; spikes or studs are also not allowed. If Box Hill cannot be used, an alternate "B" course around Denbies Vineyard (about 12.5 km) may be used. Bags and keys dropped at the start are transported to the finish. Prize giving covers the top three men and top three women, and the first woman receives the Knicker Knacker prize. Marshals receive soup and rolls and a place at a future event.
