Dorking, United Kingdom • 1 Jan 2026

Event overview

The Knacker Cracker is a trail running event scheduled for Thursday 1 January 2026. It is a 10K event with an exact course length of 10.000 km. The route includes a total ascent of 473 m and a total descent of 335 m. The event includes a separate children’s fun run called the Nipper Knacker; this children’s run has no entry cost, no results and no medals, and participants under 16 receive a carrot.

Course and logistics

The main route runs on and around Box Hill, with registration and parking at Denbies Vineyard and the race start at the bottom of Box Hill. The finish is at Box Hill Fort at the top of Box Hill; participants parked at Denbies need to walk back to their cars after the race. If Box Hill cannot be used, an alternative "B" course around Denbies Vineyard will be used; that alternative course is about 12.5 km.

The course is largely on rough tracks and includes steep, slippery and muddy sections. Headphones and earphones are not permitted on the course. There is a water station at 6 km. Prize-giving covers the top three men and top three women, and there is a separate prize for the first woman home. Marshals are requested for parking, course signalling and finish help; marshals are provided soup and rolls and a future race place. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
