Trail Running calendar near Belfast 2026-2027

A mountain running event in County Down on 3 October 2026 covering 11.90 km with 870 m climb, organised by Mourne Runners as part of the IMRA Ulster Championships and NIMRA League; GPS is not allowed and Level C kit is required.

Marathon and Half Marathon on 4 October 2026 following the way-marked Newcastle Way through Tollymore, Castlewellan and Murlough to Newcastle beach.

SkyRun the Mournes features three demanding skyrunning races in the scenic Mourne mountains. Runners can choose from distances of 50 km, 35 km, or 20 km, each with significant elevation gain. The event is scheduled for October 10th, 2026.

Nav Challenge 4 in the Mourne Mountains takes place in County Dublin on Sunday 18 October 2026. The unmarked course is 99.00 km with 999 m of climb, GPS is not allowed and a Level B mandatory kit is required.

The James Coulson Laxey Fell will take place in Laxey on Saturday 24 October 2026. You can run 13 kilometers.

November 2026

The Narradale Fell Race will take place in Sulby on Saturday 7 November 2026. You can run 20 kilometers.

Cross country at Ormeau Park in Belfast with junior and senior races from 1 to 4 miles, organised by Annadale Striders with team and age-category prizes.

National Senior & Even cross-country championships on 22 November 2026; venue and further race details are currently to be confirmed.

December 2026

The Snaefell and the Tholtans will take place in Snaefell on Saturday 5 December 2026. You can run 13 kilometers.

A winter hill race in the Southern Galloway, 17.50 km with 800 m ascent, organised by Galloway Mountain Rescue with checkpoints and mandatory winter kit.

February 2027

A 10K trail race on the Cooley Peninsula with mixed runnable trail, 240 m elevation and a finisher medal, held at McCrystals Track Jenkinstown on 20 February 2027.

March 2027

Trail runs at Culzean Castle on 7 March 2027 offer 5 km, 10 km and half marathon options across the estate with live chip timing. The event permits one controlled dog per runner and includes a medal, merchandise and refreshments for finishe..

April 2027

A 46 mile supported mountain race in Galloway across three hill ranges, with three manned food checkpoints, MRT support and a 24-hour finish cutoff.

A circular 32 km mountain race in the Galloway hills with 1850 m ascent, passing Curleywee, Rig of Jarkness and Merrick, marshalled and supported by Galloway Mountain Rescue.

A 20 mile coastal trail run from Portrush along the Causeway Coast Way passing the Giant's Causeway, cliffs, beaches and castle ruins with moderate terrain and 2276 ft ascent.

A two-day, fully supported 60-mile off-road ultramarathon on the Isle of Arran with mixed terrain, waymarking, pit stops and professional medical cover.

May 2027

A point-to-point roughly 106 mile ultra along Northern Ireland’s North Antrim coast, fully tracked, self-sufficient with timed cutoffs and staffed checkpoints.

June 2027

A 104 mile trail ultramarathon along the Southern Upland Way with 4611 m of ascent, live GPS tracking and UTMB and ITRA points. The field is limited to 250 places and strict mandatory kit, checkpoint and pacer rules apply.

A 56 mile point to point ultramarathon on the Southern Upland Way from St Johns Town of Dalry to Moffat with 2447m ascent, 400 places, a 20 hour cut off and mandatory kit plus live GPS tracking.

July 2027

Hillsborough Castle & Gardens Running Festival on 25 July 2027 offers 10K and Half Marathon races with chip timing, medals, race photos and an event village.
