A winter trail running event on the Mortimer Trail offering a roughly 30 mile Ultra from Ludlow Castle and a Croft Half from Aymestrey. The route crosses forests, limestone tops and gentle pastures between Ludlow and Kington.

Ring in the New Year with this scenic, hilly 10.8 km trail around Penistone Hill Country Park near Haworth on 31 December 2026. Entries are limited, chip timing is new for 2026, and every finisher receives a bottle of Daleside beer plus cof..

A 7-mile New Year's Eve fell race from The Little Tea Room in Rivington with a live bagpiper send-off, a pint and pie for finishers, and a post-race prize presentation and party at The Crown Pub in Horwich.

Timed laps along a flat riverside towpath at Hardy Farm with flexible distances and a pick your own medal. A vegetarian aid station runs all day and the first 90 participants receive a microfibre towel.

A winter trail event in Mortimer Forest offering an approximately 10-mile mixed-terrain race and a shorter 4-mile route, both featuring a climb to High Vinnalls, muddy trails, and a downhill finish with long-range views.

January 2027

The 20th Hangover Hike on 1 January 2027 starts and finishes at The Leggers Inn in Dewsbury, offering circular routes of 21, 13 and 10 miles with checkpoint refreshments and a finisher certificate.

A winter multi-stage trail run in Sheffield with 11 timed stages and 20 km of timed trails within a 24 km route. Stage and overall times are recorded promptly and entries are available for solo runners or pairs.

Trail half-marathon and marathon around North Leeds from Otley following the Green Gateways route, with sections via The Chevin, Yeadon Tarn and Danefield Woods. Staffed checkpoints, trackers and a mandatory safety kit list are provided.

Trail races across the grounds of Harewood House offering 5km, 10km and half marathon distances with age minimums. Canicross welcome; live chip timing, finisher medal, merchandise and free parking.

A winter trail event near Lancaster with an unmarked mixed-surface ultra and a trail half that share start and finish. Routes include tracks, trails, road, icy and boggy sections, and the event raises funds for charity.

The Bowland Trail Half will take place in Slaidburn on Saturday 9 January 2027. You can run 13 miles.

A 5k multi terrain loop from the caravan park and cafe at Llanbenwch near Ruthin. The route mixes minor roads and trails, is electronically timed, awards category prizes and gives all finishers a medal.

A continuous 268 mile winter race along the Pennine Way from Edale to Kirk Yetholm with a 156 hour time limit. The route includes over 10,700 metres of ascent and winter conditions such as deep snow and strong winds.
