Two Turtle Doves - Totley AC

Two Turtle Doves is a Boxing Day fell race based at the Totley AC pavilion by the Cricket Inn, Lane Head Road, S17. The entry fee is £8 and all proceeds go to S6 foodbank and Edale Mountain Rescue. The event is open to runners aged 18 and over.

The course is 7.8 km with 270 metres of ascent and is classified as a BS category race. The route is entirely on public rights of way and is partially marked; flags must be followed at all times. The route includes a lap of the cricket pitch, a short steep climb and descent to a river crossing, a longer climb to the Devil’s Elbow, tracks across Blacka Moor Woods, a descent through pasture, a final climb that may be muddy, a long flat section across Totley Moor of about one kilometre, and a finishing descent via Strawberry Lee Lane followed by a loop of the field.

Due to the time of year competitors must carry full FRA best-practice kit: waterproof whole-body cover with taped seams and attached hood, hat, gloves, map, compass, whistle, water and emergency food. Mandatory kit inspections may be performed; failure to carry required kit will result in disqualification. Race numbers must be clearly visible on the chest and not altered.

Facilities at the venue include toilets, showers and a pub. Parking is limited and marshals will assist; competitors are asked to follow parking instructions and avoid using the Cricket Inn car park on Penny Lane. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
