Two Turtle Doves

Two Turtle Doves is a Boxing Day fell race organised by Totley AC that starts from the Totley AC pavilion by the Cricket Inn on Lane Head Road, S17. Entry is £8 and all proceeds go to S6 foodbank and Edale Mountain Rescue. Pre-entry is available via The Entry Point and entries are also accepted on the day. The event is open to entrants aged 18 and over.

The route is 7.8 km with 270 metres of ascent and is classified as a BS category race. The course runs entirely on public rights of way and is partially marked; competitors must follow flags at all times. The route includes a lap of the cricket pitch, a short sharp climb up Strawberry Lee Lane, a river crossing at stepping stones, a climb to the Devil’s Elbow, woodland and bridleway sections, a sheep field and a final stretch over Totley Moor before the finish. A 2024 change means the finish now descends Strawberry Lee Lane followed by a customary loop of the field.

Due to the time of year runners must carry full FRA best practice kit: waterproof whole body cover with taped seams and attached hood, hat, gloves, map, compass, whistle and emergency food. The race is held under FRA rules and mandatory kit inspections may be carried out; failure to carry required kit may lead to disqualification.

Facilities at the venue include toilets, showers and a pub. Car parking is limited and marshals will assist with parking; parking in the Cricket Inn car park on Penny Lane is prohibited.

There will be certificates for the top three male and female finishers, the first Totley runner and winners in age categories including 18 to 23, Senior, V40, V50, V60 and V70. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
