Forest Trail Racing at Sherwood Pines

The Sherwood Pines event offers a selection of multi-terrain races set within the forest canopy of Nottinghamshire. Participants can choose from several distances held on undulating forest trails, providing a scenic environment for running. This event has been awarded a Gold Badge by Racecheck and is designed to accommodate various experience levels, including those preparing for spring marathons.

The courses consist of forest trails and paths. Age requirements apply for the different categories: the 10k is open to those 15 and over, the Half Marathon to those 17 and over, and the 20 Miles to those 18 and over. Detailed route information is provided via GPX files and maps for registered participants.

All finishers receive a bespoke medal. The event also includes free photographs for runners, and trophies or prizes are awarded to the leading participants. The location is accessible by car via the B6030 with chargeable parking available on-site. Public transport options include bus services from Mansfield bus station that run hourly on Sundays. A 9.9 km fell race in the Dark Peak on 2 June 2026 with 290 m of climb, rocky and boggy ground and three small river crossings. Pre-entry only, limited to 400 runners, fell or trail shoes are mandatory and FRA kit may be required.
