Midwinter Mortimer Trail

The Midwinter Mortimer Trail takes place on Sunday 27th December 2026 in the borderland country of England and Wales. The route follows the Mortimer Trail between the historic market towns of Ludlow, Shropshire and Kington, Herefordshire.

The event consists of two distances of mixed trail, forest and road running along ridges, hills and valleys. The Ultra starts at Ludlow Castle and is about 30 miles long. The Croft Half follows the final half of the Ultra route and starts at the Riverside Inn, Aymestrey.

The course passes extensive forests, limestone tops and open hill tops, and moves through gentle pastures in the Marches. The area was dominated in mediaeval times by the Mortimer family, after whom the trail is named.

The Midwinter event is the sister event to the Midsummer Mortimer Trail. Entries open 1st June. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
