The Midwinter Mortimer Trail takes place on 27 December 2025 and uses the Mortimer Trail route between Ludlow Castle and Kington, Herefordshire. The event includes mixed surfaces - trails, fields and roads - and passes through forests, limestone tops, pastures, hills and ridges. The longer route crosses the valleys of the rivers Teme, Lugg and Arrow and visits features such as Mary Knoll Valley, High Vinnals, Orleton Common, Croft Ambrey and Wapley hill fort. The event base is listed at the Burton Hotel, 1 Mill Street, Kington.

Entries open on 1 July 2025 and close on 25 December 2025. Age limits are set relative to the event date: the 30-mile Ultra requires entrants to be 18 or older, the Croft 15 requires entrants to be 17 or older. Entry fees are shown as £55.00 for the 30 mile Ultra and £35.00 for the Croft 15.

Registration locations are the Chapter66 cafe inside Ludlow Castle for the Ultra and the Riverside Inn, Aymestrey for the Croft 15; facilities are available at the Ludlow registration point. Organisers recommend parking in Kington; paid transport from Kington to the start points is offered for a per-person fee. The 30-mile route includes estimated walk times of about 8-12 hours and run times of about 5-9 hours; the Croft 15 includes estimated walk times of about 5-8 hours and run times of about 2-6 hours. The event is part of the Wild Shropshire Ultra Series, a three-event series with a combined medal and a prize for the fastest combined time.
