Bowland Ultra 2026 is a one-day ultra running event on Saturday 10 January 2026 based at Slaidburn Village Hall, Slaidburn, Clitheroe (BB7 3ES). The route is an unmarked mixed course combining vehicle tracks, flowing singletrack, sections of road and boggy climbs. The course distance is 42 miles (68 km) with about 1,700 m (5,577 ft) of ascent. The event raises funds for Morecambe Bay Foodbank and other local charities.

Race details and logistics

Entries open 1 July 2025 and close 1 January 2026. Minimum age is 18. Entry fees are listed as Affiliated £83.00 and Unaffiliated £89.00; 109 participants were listed at the time of the event notice. The entry package includes four on-course aid stations with hot food and refreshments (CP3 will provide a pasta meal), a finishers meal and memento, GPS tracking for spectators, and a bag drop at race headquarters (no on-course bag drops except for special food requirements).

A GPX file for the main route is provided and printed maps will be available at registration. Runners are advised to carry GPS or analogue navigation and to plan for cold-weather effects on device batteries. A mandatory race briefing will take place in the village hall. Trail runs nearby

Run the Petzl Night Runner at Rivington under head torch light, choosing 10 km or a half marathon on glow in the dark trail signage. Expect rough, boggy, rocky terrain, a finisher medal and lively post race buzz.

Take on The Half & Half 10 km on 25 January 2026 at Sowerby Bridge for a split terrain challenge. Rugged muddy trails and obstacles give way to a tarmac finish, entries are limited to 100 and hoodies are available to pre order.

A 23 mile winter walk and run around the Lyth Valley from Abbot Hall Social Centre in Kendal, passing Cunswick Fell, Whitbarrow Scar and Scout Scar. The event has mandatory winter kit rules and currently operates a waiting list.

Hoofstones Fell Race in Todmorden covers 8 miles with 425 m of climb across the Pennines, testing navigation skills. Race HQ is the Staff of Life pub where post race refreshments and prizes await; entries accepted pre entry or on the day.
